Happening: Performance Art

On the morning of April 22, 2017, an international party of giant panda lovers assembled on time to go to the Chengdu Panda Base. I had a ceremonial role to play there and got myself equipped in every way. But the bus to take us there was delayed on its way and everybody looked frustrated.

I then took out my Traveler ultra-light electric guitar, connected it with a mini guitar amplifier and sang via a portable sound amplifier. As I was performing, the audience began to participate actively by depositing some money and competing to pose for photos with me! That was the first time I was so encouraged ever since I characterized myself as a singer-songwriter!

There was no plot and it was a unique, one-time experience that the audience had never seen or experienced in such a context. We put aside our manners, integrating the art of life with the environment. What a fresh happening of performance art to have me busking and them posing together in a Chengdu street!

The good clean clean fun under broad daylight was beyond words. The feature photo brought home the creative drive of everybody! It could not have happened without using my Traveler ultra-light electric guitar as a prop!
