"Ah Dad"

On Father's Day, June 19, 2016, I composed a tune to celebrate the festival. I quickly recorded the song, inserted the video footage that I took while visiting Longsheng rice terrace earlier. I only managed to share the music video with a few friends before the day ended.

On June 5, 2017, I got four bars of music shortly after my late afternoon swimming. I quickly recorded it first, hoping that I would get a tune based on that later. But that was all I got that day.

As Father's Day 2017 was approaching, I added the four bars of music as the introduction and ending of the song "Ah Dad". I re-recorded the song with a quicker and richer tempo, using the cha-cha-cha rhythm, The song sounded better than the 2016 version and I felt like I could do musical arrangement for the first time!

On June 17, I completed the shooting of video clips that would match the messages and mood of the song. I spent another three hours to select, insert and edit the video footage of a 56-second festive song. Although I could not do one when my Dad was still alive, I am happy that I could publish "Ah Dad" to the world on the eve of Father's Day 2017!
