If you make a living as a literary author, you publish or you perish. Unlike artistic works, few would be content with ink on paper, and your works must at least be relevant to the target readers. New media have empowered us to do self -publishing and what used to be personal can become global.

I believe we all have unlimited creativity in us. The challenge upon us is whether we have the value to be creative, the courage to try and the mindset to do better as we go along. There are however circumstances preventing us from so doing eg if our job nature is largely functional.

I was in the functional category as a civil servant for four decades. I wrote memos and papers etc without much literary quality. My goal was to get tasks done well, adding more public value to Hong Kong, and the literary expression, apart from communication, was quite irrelevant.

Upon retirement, I began documenting my stories and thoughts. But the manuscripts kept in my computer were not published. Having learned to create my thematic websites from leadership to pets in 2016, I have wasted no time, using them as my own knowledge management (KM) platforms!
