Several weeks ago, my cousin in the gemstones business whom I have not met for a while bumped into me in a Central restaurant. Our conversations soon turned to my darling who has been his loyal customer. "I didn't notice that previously, but for the past few years, she has become pretty elegant." He remarked as a close relative.
"Over 20 years ago, I saw the potential and qualities in her and encouraged her to switch to law. " I commented. "That's precisely the point as few have the capacity to make a career change." My cousin echoed. Scenes of her studying LLBs (Lond & Beijing), LLM (Lond) and PCLL (HK), and quitting her senior executive job came to my mind.
"These days, we've dinners at around 22.00 pm and she also works on some Sundays." The backstory shocked my cousin as we parted. In fact, she recently came home at 03:30 before returning to the office hours later. And the day before yesterday, I picked her up at 23:30 from her office so that she could be home earlier.
Yesterday morning, she went to court with a suitcase of documents. Today, I read about: "A Hong Kong government lawyer asked a court..." on a newspaper's front page corner. To see her name and rank in print in a newsworthy story is quite pleasing, as it seems that her career move begins to pay off!
