When I was a kid, I liked to move things and was attracted to driving. I would sit or stand near the bus drivers, watching attentively how they controlled the vehicles like moving off, steering, changing gears and stopping. I envied their job and thought it should be my career when I grew up.
Coming of age, I observed vehicles were moving relatively fast in parallel or opposite directions. But accidents were few. Later, when I learned to drive, it dawned on me that drivers had to abide by the rules of the road or they would not get a driving licence.
Having got my driving licence in 1976, I have never stopped driving. I have facilitated relatives and friends who got driving licences but not cars yet to practise driving in my cars. Staying focus and practising more nurture instantaneous appropriate responses to incidents or emergencies.
Having driven for decades, I must confess I fell into a state of complacency. But when I resumed prosecuting careless driving cases and facilitating my elder son to practise driving, I must say I have become a safe road user again. Following law and order, we all have fun on the move safely!
