FADE IN:
EXT. PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY - DAY
Roadside yellow leaves make a refreshing difference. PETER stands near a drinks vending machine, sipping a can of coffee.
PETER (V.O.)
How nice to have hot coffee on
a cool sunny morning under
the Autumn leaves...
Coffee can in one hand, Peter reaches out for his smart phone with his free hand.
PETER (Cont'd) (V.O.)
It's so beautiful here. A still
photo can't reflect the living
scene. I must take some video
clips.
Peter pans his phone camera from left to right, and then from low level all the way up.
PETER (Cont'd) (V.O.)
How come I feel some warm
liquid on my chest?
Peter checks his shirt and finds it has a wet spot, and he sees spilled coffee on his trenchcoat.
PETER (Cont'd) (V.O.)
Oh My God! I'm pouring coffee
over my clothes as I panned up!
Abruptly, he stops filming, looks around and sees a toilet-like structure across the road. He walks towards it and reacts embarrassingly as passersby seeing him wearing a stained trenchcoat.
INT. TOILET - DAY
In a sink with running water, Peter scrubs the coffee stains off his trenchcoat.
PETER (V.O.)
I'm lucky that I can wash my
trenchcoat straightaway here.
He then puts on the wet trenchcoat, turning himself into a walking full-body hanger under the shining sun.
EXT. CRUISE BOAT - DAY
At the stern are Peter and a few other TOURISTS.
Later, they are joined by other tourists from the cabin and from the upper deck. We see fingers pointing in one direction and hear: "Gunkanjima!" Everyone tries to find a strategic spot.
PETER (V.O.)
To take a post-card like photo of Gunkanjima by tele-lens is
not difficult. To take a selfie of
just the island and me is a real
challenge.
As the boat approaches a battleship-like island, Peter looks frustrating in the middle of the crowd..
PETER (V.O.)
How can I become head and
shoulders above them?
Seeing two short and thick bollards at the stern deck, Peter holds the stern handrails tight, and steps on top of the bollards.
PETER (V.O.)
I mustn't fall into the sea! Or
I'll be grounded by the boat's
propeller blades.
FLASHBACK
EXT. BAY - DAY (1990s)
Cruise boats are at bay on a sunny day. Sitting on the deck of one of the boats, Peter watches the maneuver of the one near to his.
Engine roars. As soon as that boat is in reverse, someone at its stern falls into the sea. A pool of blood then emerges from down under. Peter looks shocked and saddened.
We then hear shouts and engine stopping. The CAPTAIN at the bridge jumps into the sea to rescue. The captain is expressionless when he surfaces.
END FLASHBACK
Peter uses his other hand to do a selfie as other tourists are amazed with Peter's endeavour on a moving boat.
PETER (V.O.)
(Smiling)
I've got it! Evidence of
"Been There, Done That".
But enough is enough.
Nobody dare follow Peter's example.
EXT. MOUNT INASA OBSERVATION DECK - NIGHT
Dotted with figures in black. Peter is stunned by the night view.
PETER (V.O.)
Let's me take video clips of
the Nagasaki night from
different perspectives.
He films as he walks.
PETER
(Crying out in pain)
Oh! Wow!
His right leg hits the fixed deck of a coin-operated binoculars. He massages his leg a bit and moves on.
INT. HIKARI NO RESTAURANT - NIGHT
Panoramic view. Good moon rising, Peter cuts a piece of steak, and then puts his hand to feel his right leg.
PETER (V.O.)
Well, there's a bump.
He massages the bump as he eats.
A pause.
He picks a few photos from his phone album and shares them over Facebook.
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
Peter works on his computer. He puts his hand to feel his right leg.
PETER (V.O.)
The bump is still there.
Things like this happen
behind the scenes.
Pausing.
PETER (Cont'd)(V.O.)
At my age, I need all gain,
and no pain...
He looks at a calendar.
PETER (Cont'd) (V.O.)
Well, my December skiing trip
is coming up.
FADE OUT. The End
