FADE IN:
INT. MANSION - NIGHT
Sitting at a high table were PETER, Peter's WIFE, an OLD MAN (86), Peter's FRIEND (50s), the friend's WIFE (50s) and their DAUGHTER (23). Peter and his wife rise and bid farewell to the old man.
OLD MAN
(To Peter and smiling)
I wouldn't stand up...See you
next year!...You never know...
Peter nods.

GRANDDAUGHTER
(To Peter)
Why are you taking photos
and videos all the time?
PETER
I just like to do it... Hours
of my video clips might
only be edited into a one
minute movie.
PETER (V.O.)
That's only an excuse. If
I didn't capture the moments,
I doubt if I'd have another
chance.
A beat.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
You're young and won't
appreciate the true value of a
moment until it's gone.
The old man parks the car neatly in a parking lot.
F/ INT. NYONYA RESTAURANT - DAY
Peter, his wife, the old man (on wheelchair), his granddaughter and the maid have Nyonya cakes.
END FLASHBACK AND MONTAGE
INT. HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT
Peter bathes and sings inside the bath room. We hear: "In the new year, wish you healthy, adding years to life. In the new year, wish you merry, adding life to years. Enjoy the days and the weeks, enjoy the months and the years..."
PETER (V.O.)
I seldom sing my song alone,
but the messages resonate in
me too. Our sole purpose of
of visiting Kuala Lumpur is to
see him.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
It's clear he wishes to live for
another year. But his health is
declining and he has become
widowed months ago too. You
never know whether it's too
early or too late to show
kindness.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
What happens to one physically
is quite beyond one's control.
Smiling and struggling come
together. Being psychologically
strong is the only choice now.
EXT. ROOF-TOP POOL - DAY
Wearing a loose-fitting white pyjamas, Peter takes photos of the rising sun.
PETER (V.O.)
You never know what tomorrow
can bring...
After a few shots, the sun hides behind the grey cloud.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
...and great moments can be
taken away fast.
Peter swims a few lengths of free strokes and butterfly strokes. He then rests on a reclined deckchair, finding angles to take selfies. He studies the images.
PETER (V.O.)
I'm not young now... Time has
become very valuable to me
too...How can I be young and
fresh as the year?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd) Perhaps, resting on a deckchair
after swimming to engage in
self-talks is one of the ways.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
My inner voice seems to say:
"Peter, be cheerful and take a
positive stance of daily experience
and continue to be supportive
and creative!"
Peter looks at scenes from different perspectives.
