FADE IN:
EXT. CAR - DAY
Smart. Sitting behind the steering wheel, Peter waits. Tapping his phone, he reads: "Five ways to begin to improve yourself in 2019".
PETER (V.O.)
When was it recommended to me?
Jan 8, 2019...Yes, the festive period
was just too busy. It's time to reflect.
Peter reads the small prints.
PETER (V.O.)
One is to write 10 ideas a day? I
focus on one each day...
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Two is to face a challenge a day?
I feel good if I do accomplish
something, especially when that
something is new to me.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Three is to lower my expectation
to make me happy, as I can't
change reality? That's challenging.
I aim high, trying to change the
world!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Four is to laugh a lot? It's easy to
fake laugh but is impossible to
laugh intentionally. It's our playful
subconsciousness about funny relationships that make us laugh.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Five is... too obvious to mention?
It takes two to tango though.
Peter's WIFE gets inside. Peter pulls out.
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter is hand on cheek.
PETER (V.O.)
I used to have New Year resolutions.
beginning the year with something
new. In 2017, I've begun publishing
in my thematic websites. But I don't
have any since then.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I've realised that there're just two
ways to improve myself every day:
One is to add years to life, and
two is to add life to years.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
If one wants to enjoy life longer,
one has to be healthy. Exercises
should help.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
If one doesn't want to pass life but
to live it, one has to add value in
the process. Doing good to another
in whatever forms, and little bits
of it, when aggregated, may
overwhelm the world.
INT. SWIMMING POOL - DAY
Peter swims, lap after lap, changing stroke styles.
PETER (V.O.)
The belief that I can add years to
life motivates me to exercise more.
INT. OFFICES - NIGHT
Peter, carrying a brief case, reports to a staff at the reception.
PETER
