FADE IN:
EXT. UNIVERSITY CAMPUS - NIGHT
PETER walks alone, checking his phone. He sees an image of himself and the remarks "Nice Tie".
PETER (V.O.)
Oh, my former student has
taken a snapshot of me during
the meeting.
Peter taps to enlarge the image.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I look old...and I'm old...But,
am I enjoying my life?
EXT. CAR PARK - DAY
Bay side. Peter in suit returns to a car. He deposits his brief case inside and walks away.
PETER (V.O.)
My legal visit nearby ended
early. I forgot to bring my
swimming gear. Let me have
a walk then.
EXT - CAFETERIA NEW BEACH - DAY
Peter walks along the empty beach leisurely.
PETER (V.O.)
Here used to be my heaven...
FLASHBACK (1960s)
EXT. CASTLE PEAK BAY - DAY
Running out from a nearby bus terminus, Peter (10) and his PEERS arrive at the crowded beach. The next moment, they are all smiles, splashing water on each other.
EXT. KADOORIE BAY - DAY
Later, Peter and his peers walk past bungalows and arrive at a smaller one with fewer swimmers. They climb up and down the beach rocks.
EXT. CAFETERIA OLD BEACH - DAY
Fine brownish-colour sand. They sprinkle their hands and feet with it. They build miniature breakwaters and castles in the sand.
EXT. CAFETERIA NEW BEACH - DAY
Even finer coffee-colour sand. They dig with their hands and little shovels into the sand. They find clams and put them inside a small bucket.
EXT. BUS TERMINUS - EVENING
Peter and his peers wait. The stare at hawkers selling marinated food nearby until an arriving bus distracts their attention.
END FLASHBACK
Peter walks past groups of students in a BBQ area. We hear chats and laughter.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Food is plentiful now. A
nearby hotel and other
remote beaches have become
Hong Kong's Gold Coast.
Peter's outfit catches the attention of two school GIRLS.
Peter (V.O.) (Cont'd)
They must be wondering:
Why would this old man
visit the beach in suit?
Pausing.
Peter (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Decades ago, I didn't even
have any proper swimwear...
EXT. CAFETERIA OLD BEACH - KADOORIE BAY - DAY
A few elderly PEOPLE sit on benches, watching the sea and listening to its harmony. Some kids chase one another, leaving their footprints on the sand.
PETER (V.O.) This beach walk soothes my
soul. I haven't had that for a
long time.
Peter takes a photo of some beach rocks.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)
Decades ago, I must have
walked on them.
Staring at the green moss on rocks, Peter is in deep thoughts.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)
Yes, young and carefree -
those were my golden
moments.
Peter sees small waves breaking and spreading their waters swiftly on the sand.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I do try to take control of my destiny. And my
happiness floats like small
waves from the sea... FADE OUT. The End
