FADE IN:
EXT. ROAD - DAY
PETER in casual wear walks up a road. An old man (70s) is quite far ahead of him. We hear a lively song, loud and clear:"Gei Wo Yi Ge Wen (給我一個吻)..."
PETER (V.O.)
Oh. it's from his mobile
device...he must be hard
of hearing.
Peter walks past him.
PETER (V,O.) (Cont'd)
In fact, it's quite nice to
have good music on the
road. It reminds people
of romance of yesteryear.
When was the last time
I asked or heard such a
request?
Peter uses his phone camera to capture the source of his inspiration.
EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY
Peter in suit drives his EUNOS 30X. Music from the car stereo: "...So kiss me goodbye and I try not to cry..." Peter is in thoughts.
FLASHBACK (December 1968)
INT. CLASSROOM - DAY
Students listen to Peter (14) singing acapella, with emotions:"...For the last time, pretend you're mine. My darling...kiss me goodbye..."
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.)
I can still recall the
longing eyes of some
girls...
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)
Well, that was some 50
years ago...
EXT. ROAD - DAY
Coming out from the Castle Peak Bay Immigration Centre with a GIRL (20s) and a MAN (40s), Peter looks in the direction of the Old Caferteria beach and makes a small talk.
PETER
When I was a kid, I used
to come here...
PETER (V.O.)
I also came here when I
became a teenager...often
at night...
GIRL
The way of life has changed...
Peter and the man nod. They continue to chat until they reach a junction and part.
EXT. BEACH - DAY
Peter strolls along the beaches. We see a few loving couples walking hand in hand or lingering with inviting smiles. They gaze at Peter when he walks past them.
PETER (V.O.)
This's what life can be.
...I know I look odd...
I finished my job early
and thought I should
enjoy life too.
EXT. HIGHWAY - NIGHT
Music from car stereo as Peter drives. Then he looks disturbed.
PETER (V.O.)
"Take a deep kiss before
dying?" Those are just the
lyrics that you sing...
Pausing.
PETER(V.O.)(Cont'd)
How long has he been
gone? I remember I
bumped into him at
Stanley and he looked
sick.
Music continues to play.
PETER
Another kissing song...
The female singer died
too.
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
Working on his computer, Peter checks something.
PETER (V.O.)
Oh, the male singer died
in 2002 and the female
one in 2003. Time really
files... I've also done my
first legal task in Feb.
Peter does further research.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
The lyricist of "Give Me
A Kiss" is 陳蝶衣 - I had
a good chat with him on
the night when he was
honoured by CASH.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Oh, he wrote it in 1954 -
the year when I was born!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Anyway, I know I'll be
kissed many times in bed
tonight without asking.
Kaji loves me and she's
a kissinger!
Peter reflects.
FADE OUT.
