Kaji: Under The Table

INT. SLEEPING ROOM - MORNING (07:00)

KAJI is being held tight by two different arms in bed. She opens her eyes and looks to the right - her PACK LEADER who is fast asleep. Then she looks to the left - her lover PETER who is gazing at her.

KAJI (V.O.)

Well, I slept well and

want to refresh..

Kaji struggles to leave their loving arms. Softly, she jumps out of bed. Then she walks to her lover's side of the bed, and looks up at Peter.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Could you open the

door for me please?

After opening the door for Kaji, Peter returns to bed.

INT. SITTING ROOM - MORNING (08:00)

A MAID (40s) gets out from another room.

KAJI(V.O.)

She's a bit late today...

A beat.

The maid, now well dressed, goes out.

KAJI(V.O.)

OMG, she's on leave!

She isn't preparing

any breakfast!

INT. CORRIDOR - MORNING (08:20)

Checking behind a closed sleeping-room door, Kaji tries to listen.

KAJI (V.O)

(Dispassionately)

All quiet!

Leaning her back against the door, Kaji waits.

A beat.

Peter, in casual wear, opens the door and Kaji looks up at him. Together, they walk side by side out of the corridor. Then, Peter goes to his study.

KAJI (V.O.)

Don't worry. He might

have to pick up a few

things. He'll be back

soon.

INT. SITTING ROOM - MORNING (09:00)

A table clock registers:09:00. Kaji rests in her small sofa, looking unhappy.

KAJI (V.O.)

My darling shares

breakfast with me

around 08:30. He

hasn't returned...

A beat.

The table clock registers: 10;00.

KAJI(V.O.)

My stomach growls.

No one remembers

my 10.am meal time!

A beat.

The table clock registers 10:30. The pack leader, in pajamas, comes out and looks at the unhappy Kaji.

PACK LEADER

Have you eaten already?

KAJI (V.O.)

(Dismissively)

Eaten? I've had anything

this morning!

Quickly, the pack leader puts food in Kaji's meal bowl and places it right in front of her. Kaji gives it a disinterested look.

KAJI (V.O.)

Originally, I was hungry.

Now, I'm very unhappy.

I won't eat it unless...

The pack leader begins to feed Kaji, one pellet at a time.

KAJI (V.O.)

Okay, that's better.

A beat.

The clock registers: 11:00. Peter returns with many carrier bags. Kaji gets very excited, jumping around him.

KAJI (V.O.)

I know what those.

are. Food, glorious

food!

As Peter places the FOOD on the table, Kaji has already jumped onto her seat, sitting tight and guarding the food. When Peter opens the bags, she is in eager anticipation.

KAJI (V.O.)

I'm hopeful that my

share won't be small.

When Peter places a small piece of bread on her side of the table, Kaji bends her head a little and uses her tongue to help it to her mouth. Her eyes say she anticipates the next one.

A beat.

PACK LEADER

(To Peter)

That's enough!

KAJI (V.O.)

No! No! No! Not

enough! I want

more!

Swiftly jumping down from her seat, Kaji sneaks under the table to Peter's side and peeps up from a table-cloth opening.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Darling, I'm here.

Peter feels it. Ascertaining it should be out of the pack leader's sight, Peter secretly passes Kaji another piece of bread under the table.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd)

I love you, Darling!

Everybody looks content.
