FADE IN.
INT. STUDY - NIGHT
PETER checks a phone message.
PETER (V.O.)
Mum's smart phone
is dead again?
Peter types his reply: I'll come back to pick it up and take it to the repairer.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I've got so many things
I want to do each day
- my self-actualization -
that I'd commute as
little as possible. Even
NT is far away.
INT. CLUBHOUSE - DAY
Peter takes a call.
CALLER
(From phone)
Your home's gas safety
check is long overdue...
PETER
(To phone)
Okay, Nov 5 then.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)
Right, I'm going back
to NT on Nov 5. And
when I pass through
my Mum's home, I'll
pick up her phone. .
FLASHBACK
EXT. FAIRVIEW PARK - DAY
Car park. Clamping the battery terminals of a Toyota Previa and a Eunos 30X, Peter sees sparks and can't jump-start the coupe. Seeing some smoke, he quickly detaches the cables.
PETER
Oh, some of my palm
skin got burned by
the heat from the
clamp! So painful!
Peter quickly puts his hand to the tap running water in a nearby sink.
Later, he dumps the clamping cables.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I'll buy a new, handy
and safe jump-starter.
EXT. FAIRVIEW PARK - DAY
Garden. Taking mails out of a full mail box, Peter sees the main water supply valves at the skirt of a sidewall.
PETER (V.O.)
There's a leaking valve
in the toilet. See if it can
be fixed while I'm here.
Peter makes a call.
PETER
(To phone)
...So someone can come
come to fix it today...
PETER (V.O.)
Hong Kong is really
efficient.
EXT- INT. FAIRVIEW PARK - DAY
Using eyeballs and equipment, a uniformed TRADESMAN#1 checks the gas piping from supply points to the user points in the bathroom and in the kitchen.
PETER
I seldom come back and
haven't used the gas for
a long time.
The tradesman focuses on his work.
TRADESMAN#1
I can detect some system
leakage. I've to disconnect
your the gas supply system.
This is the standard safety
procedure.
PETER
No problem. Safety comes
first.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)
Perhaps, I'd switch to
electricity...
TRADESMAN#2 arrives and Peter shows him the leaking valve.
PETER
Let me go to the
garden to shut off
the main water supply.
I'll leave the job to
you.
TRADESMAN#2
Yes, please.
Inside the sitting room, Peter signs something for Tradesman#1. He later pays Tradesman#2. The tradesmen leave separately.
PETER (V.O.)
Okay, a safety hazard
has been removed and
a water supply valve has
been fixed.
Car park. Opening a new set of jump-starter and connecting with the car's battery terminals, Peter then jump-starts his Eunos 30X with it. We hear strong engine cranking and starting sounds.
PETER (V.O.)
It works! Great! The
car has become
operational again!
Happily, Peter washes the dirty car.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
The last time I drove
it was in June. I don't
have to jump-start it
if I drive it more often.
Peter touches his stomach.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Yes, I'll drive to the mall to have a tea set and fix
my resident smart cards
with the management.
INT. MANAGEMENT OFFICE - DAY
A STAFF (20s) greets Peter.
PETER
I just want to fix my
resident smart cards
for parking in public
car parks.
STAFF
No problem.
INT. A FLAT, NT - NIGHT
Open door. Peter arrives and sees his MUM (80s)
PETER
Hi Mum, I come to
collect your smart
phone. I'll have it
fixed and return to
you...
EXT. HIGHWAY - NIGHT
Peter drives swiftly with windows lowered and the sunroof open. We hear music in the air.
PETER (V.O.)
I've been lazy in not
going back to NT that
often. Thus, I've to be
efficient in doing the
household chores!
FADE OUT. The End
