FADE IN.

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - DAY

PETER steps inside a super-modern office environment.

PETER (V.O.)

The building has been

here for a couple of

years. I didn't know

there's a government

office here until I got

an appointment to

apply for my new ID

card this morning.

Standing in front of a kiosk, Peter inputs some information electronically.

STAFF#1 (30s) takes photos for Peter and gets his finger prints. Later, Peter is interviewed by an OFFICER (20s). Then upon payment, he gets a receipt.

PETER (V.O.)

Okay, I can have my

new ID card next

week. My identity

problem is largely

resolved. Good!

INT. MAINLAND TRAVEL PERMIT OFFICE - DAY

Enquiry counter. STAFF#2 (20s) is receiving Peter.

PETER

(Worried)

I know your office

doesn't accept walk-ins.

But can I make an

appointment without

my Hong Kong ID card

as I've lost it? I've to

go to the Mainland in

mid-December.

STAFF

You just enter the ID no.

and that will do.

PETER

(Enlightened)

I see.

Sitting in a chair with a smart phone in hand, Peter surfs the web.

PETER (V.O.)

I'm flying out to Japan

tomorrow, I need an

appointment to reapply

for my new Mainland

Travel Permit as early

as possible.

Peter taps a few times.

PETER (V.O.)

Oh, there's a vacancy

today! Let me seize

it!

Having typed a few particulars on an electronic form on the phone screen, Peter sees a success notice.

PETER (V.O.)

Excellent! I can do

it today!

Pausing.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

As my appointment

is still hours away,

let me fix another

smart card for access

to the car park where

I store one car.

EXT. STAIRCASE JUNCTION - DAY

Peter stops at a fish pond.

PETER (V.O.)

When I lived here,

I passed by every

day. I forgot how

long I haven't seen

such a sight.

Peter takes a photo of the fish pond.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

It brings back fond

memories.

INT. ESTATE OFFICE - DAY

After filling a form, Peter passes it to STAFF#3 (20s) who checks against the particulars on a computer screen.

STAFF#3

We'll fix your card in

two hours.

PETER

Fine!

PETER (V.O.)

I can change my cars

later in the week. My

car park access problem

is largely fixed.

INT. MAINLAND TRAVEL PERMIT OFFICE - DAY

Counter. STAFF#4 (30s) is processing Peter's application.

STAFF#3

OK, you can have your

new card on Dec 10.

Peter nods.

PETER (V.O.)

I can have it three days

before my scheduled

departure to China. Great!

Pausing.

PETER (V.O.)

I lost my HKU library

card, and other less-

important access

cards. Let me fix

them later.

EXT. SWIMMING POOL - NIGHT

Coming out from the gate wet-haired and refreshed, Peter walks around leisurely.

PETER (V.O.)

I thought reapplying

my cards should be

a great headache.

Now, it's nearly all

done.

He touches his stomach.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

I feel hungry. I feel

my holiday mood too!

Peter smiles.

FADE OUT. The End
