FADE IN.
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
PETER notices a pile of letters on a door-side table.
PETER (V.O.)
Are my new cards coming
in?
He puts his hands to feel the letters before opening them. Seeing cards inside, Peter smiles.
PETER (V.O.)
Let me begin again to
manage my cards. I
don't even know how
many cards I've got.
As he puts them carefully on one side, his phone rings.
CALLER (O.S.)
(From phone)
Mr Cheung, your new Bar
Membership card and new
High Court Library card
are ready for collection.
PETER
(To phone)
Many thanks!
Peter smiles again.
INT. CAR TESTING CENTRE - DAY
STAFF#1 (40s) is receiving Peter as he takes out a KFC credit card from his handbag.
PETER (V.O.)
I didn't lose this card as
I seldom use it and had
put it aside. Now, it plays
its role.
EXT. CAR REPAIRER - DAY
After a MECHANIC (40s) is finishing replacing the light bulbs of Peter's car, Peter pays cash at the counter.
PETER (V.O.)
I often pay by EPS here,
but I lost my EPS bank
card. My cash in hand is
now fairly limited.
FLASHBACK
INT. FAMILYMART, FUKUOKA - DAY
Counter. Peter uses his index finger to direct the attention of STAFF#2 (20s) to some food inside a shelf, and then holds straight his index finger. As STAFF#2 takes out the food, Peter nods.
PETER
IC Card doh.
Peter then presents an ICOCA CARD on the reading machine and pays. We hear: "Dout!"
PETER (V.O.)
It's so user-friendly.
I don't need to bother
with the change.
EXT. HONG KONG AIRPORT - NIGHT
Bus stop. Peter gets on board a bus and pays with a mini green OCTOPUS CARD. "Dout!"
PETER (V.O.)
Again, I've bought for
awhile and put it aside. It's the only Octopus card
that is still with me. And
since I lost my wallet,
I've made it the main
card to access to my
car parks.
END FLASHBACK
Peter drives away.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Oh, yes, I haven't gone
to any petrol-filling
station since I lost my
wallet. How can I reapply
for my Driver Rewards
card? That can wait
though.
EXT. ROADS - DAY
As he walks towards a swimming pool premises, Peter remembers something.
PETER (V.O.)
Oh, my younger son's
coming home tomorrow
and I've promised to pick
him up at the Airport. I
had better get going with
getting a new Driver
Rewards card.
Having used his phone to surf the web, Peter makes a call and engages in a conversation.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
...That's how I can get
my new Driver Reward
card right away...
INT. PETROL FILLING STATION - NIGHT
A wet-haired Peter speaks to STAFF#3 (50s), who presents him with forms to fill in, and then a SMILES CARD. Grabbing the card as he leaves the office, Peter smiles.
PETER (V.O.)
The label "Smiles" is just
a mark. Not until I lost
most of my cards, I wouldn't
care about them. I'm now
happy with the substitutes.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Having a positive mindset,
I still wish I could find or
have the originals back
again.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I want to understand how
did I lose my wallet! My
first time in 65 years!
Peter puts his hand to feel his handbag.
FADE OUT. The End
