FADE IN.
INT. SWIMMING POOL - DAY
Pretty crowded. Some coaches are teaching children swimmers. Peter swims lap after lap.
PETER (V.O.) I learn how to swim
better by watching
video clips of swimming
Olympic medalists.
FLASHBACK
EXT. MEIJI SHRINE - DAY
PETER walks towards the shrine,
PETER (V.O.)
I meant to see the
1964 Olympic
Park. But Google
Maps' GPS led me
here. I first visited
it in 1982 and now
I'm here again...
Seeing roadside decorations, Peter looks enlightened.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I see! This year is the
Shrine's centenary.
Peter sees worshippers, bowing respectfully upon arriving and leaving.
PETER (V.O.)
They're so loyal to
their Emperor Meiji
who died over 100
years ago. He and
his wife did a lot
for Japan.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Just then, I read from
the roadside information,
that Emperor Meiji died
at 59. His loyals built
the Shrine 100 years
ago.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
The oldest form of
government in Japan
still contributes to
governance. In Hong
Kong, there was only
the self-proclaimed
"King of Kowloon"...
INT. LIBRARY - DAY
Reading a newspaper column, Peter raises an eyebrow.
PETER (V.O.)
Ha! A new term: "Megxit"
Prince Harry and Meghan
Markle don't want to be
senior Royals anymore.
Would they cling to their
hereditary fortunes?
Seeing something.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
This is an interesting
remark: British royals
love American divorcees.
Yes, King Edward VIII
fell for Wallis Simpson.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Yes, "a man, a man till
he marries a wife", I
remember this line in
D H Lawrence's novel
"Sons and Lovers". I
didn't get it before I
got married...
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Although leadership is
about the ability to
influence others to think
and do things otherwise
they wouldn't think and
do, if their ability is in
their royal blood, they
can lead in some ways.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
For the majority who
aren't fortunate to be
born royal, there's
the need to prove, from
what they do, the
ability to lead by creating
and delivering value.
Everybody can lead
in some ways too.
EXT. YOYOGI PARK - DAY
Following the directions on his phone screen, Peter arrives at the entrance.
PETER (V.O.)
Oh yes, this's the
1964 Olympic Park
I wanted to visit.
Peter sees the 1964 Olympic Stadium next to the Park.
PETER (V.O.)
I heard so much
about the Tokyo
Olympics when I
was 10. I recall I
had collected a
stamp depicting it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Now, I'm here at 65,
fortunate enough to
see and feel the past
environment of the
Olympic brand - an
accidental loyal
supporter of sports.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I visited the Beijing
Olympic Swimming
Pool, and swam in the
London Olympic one
a few years back!
Peter smiles.
FADE OUT. The End
