FADE IN.

INT. STUDY - DAY

Getting a WeChat message on his phone, PETER taps an icon.

PETER (V.O.) Chain 2020? At AsiaWorld

Expo? I've been following

blockchain developments

and haven't attended any

conference there...

Peter taps the icon: register.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Oh, it's free.

Peter then types a few particulars.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Okay, done.

INT. ASIAWORLD EXPO - DAY

Register desks with a couple of STAFF. After showing his phone screen to STAFF#1 (20s) Peter is given a guest card.

PETER (V.O.)

The staff speak Putonghai

to each other.

Entering a hall displaying conference information, STAFF#2 (30s) gives Peter a simple lunch box.

As he is eating, Peter walks around to read the displayed information.

PETER (V.O.)

I only know this speaker.

We're in a blockchain

panel in 2017. He spoke

about ICO and I talked

about IP as security for

tokenization.

Pausing.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

No one invited me to

speak on this occasion

though. Anyway, the

field is developing.

Let me see what I don't

know what I don't know.

Finishing his lunch, Peter enters into the dark conference hall and looks shocked at seeing rows and rows of participants, following SPEAKER#1's delivery on stage.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Wow! Such a big

audience! So packed.

After taking a few photos with his phone, Peter walks past some non-sitting participants towards the far end, sees some vacant seats and sits down.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

It appears that a

majority of the participants

are from the Mainland.

On stage, a MODERATOR (30s) introduces SPEAKER#2 (40s).

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Good, the speaker I

knew of is about to

speak. See what he

has to say since we

last spoke together.

We see some moving images on large screens on the sides of the stage and hear sounds from amplifiers.

A beat.

PETER (V.O.)

Oh, apart from his

introductory remarks

that he would like to

speak in Chinese on

the next occasion, I

haven't heard of

anything that I don't

know.

After a brief introduction by the moderator, SPEAKER#3 (20s) speaks.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

What is she speaking?

Peter reads the English-Chinese translations on the big screen near him. We hear applause.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

I see. She isn't speaking

English. She's more

courageous than me to

try to speak something

that sounds like Putonghua.

A beat.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

She just practises her

Putonghua on stage.

And that's all.

Peter looks restless.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

There's no information

about what comes next.

Let me check via my

phone.

Peter taps on his phone screen.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Wow, this is a 12,000-

participant conference.

All sold out! The biggest

one I helped organize

and that ended on the

date of my retirement

was around 8000-

12,000 participants.

Peter then counts the vacant seats near him.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Around 10% didn't turn

up. But it's still a lot.

Pausing.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

What motivates the

audience to come from

afar?

SPEAKER#4 (30s) then speaks.

SPEAKER#3

Scarcity is the key.

One Bitcoin at start

was US$0.08, now

it's over US$8,800...

Those who believe

one Bitcoin will be

worth US$1 million,

please raise your

hands.

Surveying from stage.

SPEAKER#4 (Cont'd)

I see a few hands.

Those who believe

one Bitcoin will be

worth US$10 million,

please raise your

hands...

PETER (V.O.)

These participants

smell the money and

so they're here.

A beat.

SPEAKER#5 (40s) speaks using a chart to aid his presentation.

SPEAKER#5

When to buy or sell

has a lot to do with

people's fear and

greed...

PETER (V.O.)

He's good. He

explains the decision-

making process in a

scientific fashion.

SPEAKER#6(30s) speaks.

SPEAKER#6

It's good in Hong Kong

that SFC issued guidelines

that facilitate primary and

and secondary trading of

cryptos here. Security

Token Offering (STO) will

be hot from now on.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

I endorse that, and

the security I've in

mind is IP.

SPEAKER#7 (30s) speaks.

SPEAKER#7

I was in the media

sector and founded

my company in

2017...

A beat.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

Her presentation is

disorganized like

the current blockchain

development. My

interpretation of the

Mainland scene is

much better than

hers. I had better go

swimming.

As Peter exits the conference halls, he sees well-dressed Chinese LADIES posting for photos here and there.

PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)

The return on their

investment can't be bad.

That's why they're so

supportive of Chain 2020.

I now know what the

crypto community is like!
