FADE IN.
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY
PETER opens and shuts handbags after handbags, and cardholders after cardholders.
PETER (V.O.)
(Frustrated)
Where have I put
my Kitaca card?
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I last saw it nearly
a year ago when
I flew back from
Sapporo.
Peter rechecks them inside out.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd) I've retraced where
it's supposed to be
for days. I tried to take
it easy as it's a small
thing after all.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
As I'm flying out to
Sapporo again in
a few days, I've the
urge to find it.
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Peter chats with his WIFE.
PETER
I couldn't find my Kitaca
card. Have you...
WIFE
What's that?
Sighing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I know what I don't know. She doesn't know
what she doesn't know.
INT. STORE ROOM - DAY
Peter checks baggage after baggage.
PETER (V.O.)
It's highly unlikely
the Kitaca card would
be in them. I'm sure
I haven't lost it. I just
can't remember where
I misplaced it. Anyway,
let me put organised
again.
After emptying a baggage, Peter puts something inside.
PETER (V.O.)
I won't use the stuff
until there's a need
for them. It doesn't
matter they're out
of sight.
Then, something on a table nearby catches Peter's eyes.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd)
(Surprised and happy)
Oh my god! My Kitaca
card, my EasyCard and
an used Dubronick card
are all here!
Scratching his head.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
It's unthinkable I could
have placed the cards
just on the table. I
believe I wanted to put
them in a cardholder
but was distracted and
then forgot about them.
Peter takes a photo of the stuff, taps the What'sApp icon and send it with the message: I've found it!
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
From now on, I should
avoid misplacing my
stuff in the first place.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
I used to misplace my
keys and car keys a
lot. Since I've been
putting them in the
same spots, the
problem goes away.
How can I do better?
What are the techniques?
Peter surfs the web, reads some small prints and watches several videos.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Visualization and
association are the
keys. I need to put
the new information
into the right memory
folder like a computer.
Pondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
But I've to use my
imagination to create a
mental hook that would
trigger my memory.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
In fact, I can be practical.
My trousers and shirts
have pockets. In my
trousers' left pocket,
I visualise my wallet
inside it. In the right one,
my phone. In my shirt's
pocket, my keys.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
From now on, I'll be
FAST in remembering.
I try not to forget (F).
I'd take action to visualize
and associate (A). I
put myself in a mental
state (S) that would
trigger my memory.
And I'd do the knowledge
transfer (T) so as to
reinforce my capability.
Reflecting
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd)
Finding my Kitaca card
not just makes me happy,
it has also motivated me
how to get better organized
and not to waste my
time/live to find misplaced
stuff!
Nodding.
FADE OUT.
The End
