FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
PETER is typing on his smartphone.
PETER (V.O.): Today, I'm going to answer questions posed by Quorans.
Checking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For the last two days, I've other priorities and haven't responded to any answer requests.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My value is that if Quorans care to ask me questions, I'm committed to responding to them. I feel like their KOL or mentor.
Checking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There're other Quorans who regularly share my answers in their "Spaces" so that their followers can share my thoughts as well.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I re-read those referred answers, I find them particularly good and are worth the third-party endorsement.
Act 2
INT. SITTING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Peter reads other answer requests.
PETER (V.O.): An unfamiliar Quoran asks me if I'd like to create a web page in a certain online platform to monetize my creativity.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I haven't heard of such an intermediary before. What is it?
Peter researches with his smartphone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's an online matching platform for its subscribers, from content providers to content users, in cyber space.
Thinking,
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I create my works for the sake of creativity. Creativity is in me and I shouldn't waste it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As a copyright man, I'm creating and expanding my copyright repertoire which may be valuable especially when I'm gone.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Apart from my time and intellectual effort, I haven't incurred any expense in my creative endeavour.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The websites I created and my publications in social media are all free of charge.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If my works are wanted, the potential licencees and assignees can come to me direct. Why should I subscribe to an intermediary?
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Upon retirement in 2014, I wrote a feature screenplay called "24 Hours Before & After", documenting my mood from my last work day to my first retiring day.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): To see if my screenplay was any good, I submitted it to compete in various forums in US in 2015. I had to pay entry fees.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My experience was that I was throwing good money after bad. But such annual screenplay competition businesses continue.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've decided that if I'm going to make movies of my screenplays, I'll do everything myself.
Peter types his answer on his smartphone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've explained to the Quoran that I don't need such an intermediary. I prefer a thoroughfare.
Later, Peter sees a comment on his answer.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Quoran suggests my joining the online platform's Gold Plan as the fees payable is minimal. OMG!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The answer request is a marketing ploy in disguise. I don't think it's a good marketing strategy.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Incidentally, such online platforms have become the virtu of centralised copyright intermediaries.
Act 3
INT. SITTING ROOM - NIGHT
Sitting on a sofa, Peter is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O.): There's money in virtual connectivity.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) : In the past, conventional centralised intermediaries were locally-based. Now, the online ones' model have scaled up the business.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While creators may need financial support to sustain their creative endeavours, entrepreneurs are quick to capitalize on their dreams.
Sighing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Creators' skill can't just be confined to creativity. They should also be creative in their business development.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Meanwhile, a Quoran's insincerity has dampened my mood in entertaining other Quorans.
Peter watches TV.
