Writer: Peter K F Cheung SBSPeter K F Cheung SBS
  1. FADE IN.

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. SLEEPING ROOM - NIGHT

  4. As he goes to bed, PETER hears the radio DJ saying: It's April 1. Leslie Cheung jumped down from the 24/F of the Mandarin Hotel... and he died.

  5. PETER (V.O.) : That was in 2003 when Hong Kong was still suffering from SARS. At that time, I wasn't sure if there would be a 2004 for me and my family.

  6. Pausing.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Years later, a newspaper revealed on April 1 that my office didn't protect personal data seriously. I did a lot of work to salvage the operation. Few heard about it.

  8. Pausing.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If one can wake up, April 1 is just another day.

  10. Peter sleeps.

  11. Act 2

  12. DREAM SEQUENCE

  13. A. INT. SEMINAR ROOM - DAY

  14. Peter is speaking to dozens of AUDIENCE.

  15. PETER: What do you like me to talk about?

  16. None of the audience is responsive.

  17. PETER (V.O.): It can't be me. I communicate my messages in a story - telling and dynamic fashion

  18. The talk ends uneventfully.

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I always feel good after each public speaking, but not this time. Strange.

  20. B. INT. SOMEWHERE - DAY

  21. It appears that Peter is reading and hearing something.

  22. PETER: These three notes are the best music ever?

  23. Pausing.

  24. PETER (V.O.): They're just So -Ti - Do.

  25. VOICE (O.S.): It's your song!

  26. PETER (V.O.): Is that right?

  27. END DREAM SEQUENCE

  28. Peter wakes up.

  29. PETER (V.O.): Let me check up the notes before I forget. I have had two nice songs that were inspired by my dreams.

  30. INT. MINI-STUDIO - DAY

  31. Guitar in hand, Peter is tracing some notes.

  32. PETER (V.O.): Nothing special. Can I use these three notes in creative ways to write a song.

  33. Peter strums and does some finger-picking as his phone's Voice Memo App is recording.

  34. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The most I can get are just music for a few verses. It's true that I want to compose more good songs.

  35. Pausing.

  36. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How about my first dream on public speaking? I've a full-day law lecture to deliver and I haven't started preparing my written and speaking material yet.

  37. Reflecting.

  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So during dreaming, my brain supports and records my waking life, and prepares me for future challenges...

  39. Thinking.

  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm not making a fool of myself even during my non-waking consciousness.

  41. Pausing.

  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How interesting it is to be able to dream?

  43. FLASHBACK

  44. INT. STUDY - DAY

  45. The TV is on. Peter is working on his computer. We see and hear a young GIRL speaking on screen: They can kill my body. But they can't kill my dream.

  46. PETER (V.O.): That's rhetoric. If there's no life, there's no dream. If the dream means a person's mission, the non-existence of the one championing that would at least cause some setbacks.

  47. Pausing.

  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Life can't be non-primal.

  49. END FLASHBACK

  50. Act 3

  53. WIFE: Where has our maid gone?

  54. PETER: I don't know.

  55. The MAID returns with takeaways.

  56. MAID: Your daughter, being quarantined, called me to buy takeaway breakfast for all of you.

  57. PETER: She even knows what you and I like to drink.

  58. PETER (V.O.) : And this isn't a dream.

  59. The TV news anchor reports that some banks won't pay dividends in 2020.

  60. PETER: Investors invest in them because they always pay dividends. Can it be an April fools prank?

  61. WIFE (Angrily): How can it be a joke? It's from the news channel.

  62. PETER: Have you invested a lot?

  63. WIFE: Yes. I bought a lot weeks ago and now the share price is 20% lower.

  64. PETER: Oh my god!

  65. Other stories about investors' responses.

  66. WIFE (Smiling): You see. There're many other investors who bought them in the bull market and they suffer 40% loss due to COVID-19.

  67. PETER (V.O.): I recall two sayings: Great minds think alike, and fools are all the same!

  68. Peter then practises a few Tango footwork by himself.

  69. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): April is a new month for me to Push and Rejuvenate myself; and it'd be even better if I can Inspire others and make them Laugh a lot!
