  8. Pausing.

  10. Pausing.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I might not know anybody at the reception. Nobody would care if I don't turn up.

  12. Pausing.

  13. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyway, see how it goes.

  14. Act 2

  16. Entrance. Peter is taking photos of the sign board.

  17. PETER (V.O.): The 1F here used to be the hub for Govt legal trainees during the summer holidays.

  18. Recalling.

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): From 1981-1985, I was one of them.

  20. Pausing.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's good to be back after a lapse of 4 decades.

  22. Reception. Peter sees GUESTS getting their name tags.

  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, my elder son and his colleagues are here too.

  24. Peter's SON, his COLLEAGUES#1-4 and Peter enter a lift together.

  25. SON: My Dad...

  26. COLLEAGUE#1: Is it planned?

  27. SON: No, a random act.

  28. PETER: Hi Everyone!

  29. PETER (V.O.): If I don't work in retirement, I won't be joining the young and bright.

  30. Crowded Room. A WAITER offers red wine and champagne.

  31. PETER: Let me help myself with a cup of orange juice.

  32. Going to the bar, Peter sees a familiar face.

  33. PETER (V.O.): What's his name?

  34. Peter focuses on his name tag.

  35. PETER: Hi Doug! Good to see you again!

  36. Recalling.

  37. PETER (V.O.): When I began my private practice in 2017, my first assignment was to join a duty visit to KL as a Member of the Hong Kong Bar.

  38. Recalling.

  39. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The opportunity was meant for Doug, but he had an urgent court appearance and recommended me to go instead.

  40. Pausing.

  41. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Now, I realize such an assignment is rare.

  42. Peter then engages GUESTS#1 & 2.

  43. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): One is a rising star in politics. The other is a visionary professor.

  44. After a few speeches and rounds of applauses, Peter chats with his son. Then a LADY intervenes smilingly.

  45. PETER: Hi Catherine! You always energize people.

  46. CATHERINE: Hi Peter! It's been over a decade since we last worked together as mentors to HKU undergraduates in law.

  47. PETER: Could you please advise my son how to survive in an international firm?

  48. They chat and chat.

  49. EXT. GOVT CAR PARK - 19:30

  51. PETER (V.O.): I was working in the Attorney General's Chambers here in 1985. Now, I just want to take my wife's car lift home!

  54. Peter is listening to oldies.

  55. PETER (V.O.): Before participating in the eBRAM reception, I've also gone to the Duty Lawyer's office and my chambers.

  56. Pausing.

  57. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At the end of the day, it was a good one. Catherine's remarks about my elder son and me were non-obvious to me.

  58. Pausing.

  59. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A good day is largely unplanned, random and spontaneous.
