PETER is driving his WIFE who is checking her phone.
PETER (V.O.): Tuesday's the only day she wants me to drive her to work.
His wife recognises something.
WIFE: Three years ago, I was studying in Tsinghua University.
PETER: Just 3 years ago? I thought it was a long time ago.
WIFE: Google Photos say it was 2018...Oh, I even want to visit Beijing now...
PETER: Is that right? Mainland China wasn't your trip destination.
Pausing.
PETER(Cont'd): Now, it's safer to visit Mainland China than anywhere.
WIFE: But there's no such travel bubble yet.
Act 2
EXT. PETROL STATION - LATER
A STAFF is serving Peter.
PETER: Full tank please.
PETER (V.O.): Am I living an affluent life in Hong Kong, paying for the most expensive petrol in the world?
EXT. SHAU KEI WAN - LATER
Peter's car is parallel to a Shau Kei Wan tram.
PETER (V.O.): Whenever I see a Shau Kei Wan tram, I always recall the characteristic s of the Reasonable Man in law.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Reasonable Man is a ordinary and prudent person commonly found on a Clapham omnibus.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In Hong Kong, the Reasonable Man's cousin takes the Shau Kei Wan tram.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Reasonable Man is free from over apprehension and free from over confidence.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He provides a neutral yardstick to measure whether any particular act done is negligent or not.
Peter drives upslope towards Shek O.
EXT. ROADS TO SHEK O - LATER
Scenic views. Peter drives downslope towards Shek O.
PETER (V.O.): I want to swim at Shek O. The beach was closed the last time.
EXT. SHEK O PUBLIC CAR PARK - LATER
Slowly, Peter follows the cars in front.
PETER (V.O.): When the beach was closed, I could find one or two vacant slots. But now...
Searching.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Couldn't understand why this isn't a metered car park. I hate this all-or-nothing arrangement.
Peter leaves.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Should I go to Repulse Bay or Stanley?
Arriving at a junction, Peter sees a road sign: Big Wave Bay.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I've forgotten about this destination.
Later, Peter sees some vacant metered car slots.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, I'll do my daily exercise here today.
EXT. BIG WAVE BAY - LATER
Wearing a red swim brief, a red swim cap and a pair of black swim goggles, Peter surveys the beach and the swimming area.
PETER (V.O.): The name of the beach has made me over-apprehensive, but it seems that the waters aren't that rough.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I shouldn't be over-confident though. To play safe, I'll swim along the orange buoy boom line.
Peter swims towards the outer limit of the swimming area.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Well, the dark water colour looks somewhat mysterious to me. And I'm the lone soul who has swum that far out.
Act 3
EXT. ROADS TO KOWLOON - AFTERNOON
A wet-haired Peter drives across the Eastern Harbour tunnel.
PETER (V.O.): It was a good trip. Why do we like travelling at all?
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Travelling heightens our awareness. We've also become receptive, wanting to uplift ourselves.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Travelling is like loving, both of which should never end.
Pondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's why we like to travel, particularly with our loved ones.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Meanwhile, I've done my solo day trip. And I'm a reasonable and contented day tripper!
FADE OUT.
