Delivering Happiness

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. STUDIO - 07:15

  4. Holding two cards, PETER is searching for something.

  5. PETER (V.O.): I need to put them inside two large envelopes.

  6. Having put the cards inside envelopes, Peter types two addresses on his smartphone, prints them and attaches them on the envelopes.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've to go to the Post Office to post them. And they should reach the addressees tomorrow.

  8. Pausing.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If I take my wife's car lift to Central, I'd walk past the address of one recipient before reaching the Post Office.

  10. Thinking.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Why not deliver these by hand? The addressees will get them today, and I may have an adventure.

  12. Nodding and smiling,

  13. Act 2

  14. INT. CHAMBERS, CENTRAL - 10:00

  15. Arriving, Peter presses the door bell. A CLERK opens the door smilingly.

  16. CLERK: Long time no see!

  17. PETER (presenting the first envelope): Yes! I just want to deliver this. Thank you very much!

  18. Leaving, Peter's face lights up with satisfaction.

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I love the personal touch. Let me go swimming now.


  21. Having deposited his belongings on the sand, Peter, in his swimwear, heads towards the baywaters.

  22. PETER (V.O.): Happiness depends on me.

  23. Soon, we see Peter resting on the floating platform of the swimming area.

  24. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was here two days ago...

  25. Pausing.

  26. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Come December, there won't be any lifeguard services here, and I don't know when I'd come again.

  27. Peter sees a SWIMMER swimming rhythmically with hand paddles.

  28. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Every time I come here, I see him. I appreciate his dedication.

  29. Returning to the beach later, Peter sees a BEACHGOER resting under a shade.

  30. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Last time when I was here, he was here too. I remember his tatoos.


  32. Entering, Peter has a warm smile on his face.

  33. PETER (to a WAITRESS): Roast Goose Noodles in Soup and a cup of Hot Chocolate please.

  34. When the waitress serves the noodles with a goose drumstick, she can't hide her envy.

  35. WAITRESS: Wow, it's a goose drumpstick! It looks so delicious!

  36. PETER (V.O.): I get one out of around four orders. It tastes even better than it looks.


  38. Office. Second envelope in hand, Peter delivers it to a RECEPTIONIST.

  39. PETER (V.O.): All done! I'm delivering happiness to myself and possibly the recipients!


  41. Smartphone in hand, Peter is seeking directional guide from Google Maps.

  42. PETER (V.O.): I should first go to the Kai Tak Station and then the Sung Wong Toi Station...

  43. Having felt his fingers, Peter puts the smartphone in his pocket.

  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My smartphone neuropathy hasn't gone yet.

  45. Peter walks past many construction sites.

  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, this will be the Kai Tak Sport Centre...But there's no sign of any train station.

  47. Peter grabs his smartphone to check Google Maps.

  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I've got diverted...Saving time, I should walk direct to my Kowloon City destination.

  49. Peter then sees many young construction WORKERS changing shifts.

  50. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was young, I did whatever vacanies were available, be it waiting tables or working in factories.

  51. Act 3

  52. INT. STUDIO - 23:15

  53. Peter stares at an animated AI drawing on his smartphone screen.

  54. PETER (V.O.): I'm willing to embrace spontaneity and embark on adventures.

  55. Pausing.

  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I take pleasure in small moments including having inexpensive afternoon tea sets, Hong Kong style.

  57. Reflecting.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I find contentment and fulfilment in activities that bring me happiness, no matter how small they may be.

  59. FADE OUT
