FADE IN
Act 1
INT. CHA CHAAN TENG - 14:45
PETER sits at a corner booth. Before him: a plate of fried noodles and a cup of almond milk. His eyes fix on a digital note on his phone.
PETER (V.O.): At the Dancing Bees' 2025 performance, I volunteered to write a theme song for the band.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm dedicated to expanding my musical skills so I can deliver a perfect song.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At Ricky's 80th birthday anniversary last Monday, I met Dancing Bees again and knew their 2026 performance will take place in Sept.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although I can't join them this year, I think my song should be there.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Delivering a promise to others and myself matters.
Act 2
INT. LIVING ROOM - 15:13
Peter sits on a sofa, guitar on lap. Peter plays the C chord. Then an Am. Then F. And G7.
PETER (V.O.): Pop rock. The key of C. Anyone can sing along.
He taps his phone's recorder. Presses RECORD.
PETER (Singing): 我哋以前喺海關,做到半夜三更,而家唔駛上班,㚒Band 就最啱.
He presses STOP. Rewinds. Listens.
PETER (V.O.): Okay. That's verse 1. The backstory.
He then moves to the piano in a corner. Sits. Places his fingers on the keys. Plays the melody.
PETER: Hmm...
He plays verse 2. Records it.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's the contrast.
He plays and sings verse 2 again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I love the hook - the audience should feel the surge of energy.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): Now the bridge...It should create a sense of suspension.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I like it to end with "Dancing Bees", so a change of rhyme.
PETER (Singing): 話唱歌唔會走Key, free as the breeze, 就算錯咗你都唔知, 我哋係Dancing Bees.
Smiling.
PETER (V.O.): Humour and honesty make art more relatable.
He sings and records the bridge.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What remains is the chorus. That should simply be the broad, emotional summary.
PETER (Singing): We're the Dancing Bees...Hei, hei, hei... Wee, Wee, Wee.
Peter strums the final C chord.
PETER (V.O.): I prioritize accessibility and fun over technical complexity.
He sings and records the chorus.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There're hesitations though.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've to record these before I forget.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A messy draft is better than no draft.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):Tomorrow, I'll wake up and hate a part of it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Delivering an imperfect song is an act of love and integrity.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But don't let the perfect bee sting my song before it has a chance to fly.
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 22:00
Peter uploads an image to a draft on his laptop. It shows a honey bee with distinct yellow and black abominal strips settling on a bright yellow flower, collecting pollen from its center.
PETER (V.O.): Don't let the perfect bee tell me that my C Major chorus is too simple. The Dancing Bees don't need a symphony - they need a beat they can feel.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The perfect bee has a plan. The good bee has a tune, The good bee finishes before a perfect bee starts.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let the bee be imperfect. The honey will still be sweet.
The END
FADE OUT
