e-four and Ever

FADE IN
Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 21:00
Peter sits up in bed, his thumb rhythmically swiping across his phone screen. A faint smile plays on his lips.
On screen, we see a cascade of photos. Pristine landscape of Hokkaido. Peter's wife smiling in front of a field of lavender. Disney Adventure queues. The futuristic Gardens by the Bay of Singapore.
Peter swipes past them and stops on a photo - a silver Toyota Prius e-four. The car is almost futuristic in its design.
FLASHBACK
EXT. ROADS, WAKKANAI, HOKKAIDO - DAY/NIGHT(SEPT 22-23, 2025)
Peter and his WIFE take turns to drive a white Toyota Prius e-four.
PETER: It's good-looking. It's powerful. The way it handles...It's not just a car, it's a feeling.
WIFE: We only have it for 24 hours to explore the places of interest here.
PETER: Next time, we should get one for the whole trip.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 2
INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
PETER (V.O.): Last year, we hired a C-2 class car from Toyota Car Rental in Wakkanai. It was very nice that we got an e-four.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For our most recent trip, my wife seized a bargan offer from Times Car Rental. She booked the C-2 class, not knowing what model we might get.
FLASHBACK
EXT. TIMES CAR RENTAL, NEW CHITOSE AIRPORT - 17:00 (18 Sept, 2026)
Peter and his wife arrive in a shuttle bus. We see rows of cars in the lot.
PETER (V.O.): I can see a few e-fours...but for our previous rentals here, we got Nissans, Hondas and Mazadas.
Later, an AGENT escorts Peter and his wife from the office to the lot to collect their rental vehicle. They walk past rows of identifical, clean cars. Then, the agents stops at an e-four.
AGENT: This is your rental car for eight days.
Peter and his wife look at each other, their eyes wide with childlike delight.
PETER (V.O.): It's a dream come true.
Together with the agent, they inspect the vehicle and confirm its condition.
WIFE: You drive first.
PETER: Me first?
WIFE: It's getting dark...
PETER: Oh yes! You'll drive when we reach the first service area.
They get in. Peter adjusts the driver seat, grips the steering wheel.
PETER (Cont'd): Perfect!
We see the e-four speeding along the toll road towards Daisetsuzan National Park.
PETER (V.O.): The driving isn't just a way to get from A to B. It becomes the point. The journey itself is the destination.
Enjoying.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Every accelaration, every turn, every corner...it is a loving conversation between us and the machine.
Later, his wife is driving.
WIFE: It's a pleasure to drive....can we get one in Hong Kong?
PETER: I've never seen an e-four in Hong Kong...perhaps it can't compete with the EVs, especially when there're tax-exemption incentives.
EXT. CHINATOWN, SINGAPORE - 21:30 (27 Sept, 2026)
Peter and his wife are walking in the streets. Then Peter spots a blue e-four taxi.
PETER: Look, the e-four is just a taxi here.
EXT. HOTEL CAPRI, SINGAPORE - 14:00 (28 Sept, 2026)
Peter and his wife are waiting with one baggage just outside the concierge. A blue taxi pulls up. It's a standard seden. Peter's face falls slightly.
PETER (V.O.): It's not an e-four.
EXT. TAXI STAND, MARINA BAY CRUISE CENTRE - 10:00
Another standard seden taxi pulls up. The DRIVER opens the trunk. Peter hauls his wife's baggage near it. As the driver touches his waist conspicuously, he and his wife upload the baggage into it.
Later, his wife pays with a debit card. Peter watches to see if it's okay.
DRIVER: Are you waiting for me to open the door for you?
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM -22:30
Peter uploads an image to a draft on his laptop. It shows a silver Toyota Prius e-four parked in front of a luxurious onsen resort, reinforcing a clean, forward-looking setting.
PETER (V.O.): Eight days. One car. A lifetime of knowing what matters.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Some cars I drive. Some loves I keep. The best trip gives me both.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): e-four and ever. I finally understand, The "e" stands for enough.
The END
