Favourite Moments

  1. FADE IN.

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. STUDY - MORNING

  4. Phone in hand, PETER is checking a Quora answer request.

  5. PETER (V.O.): What was my favourite moment for the past 5 years?

  6. Pausing.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Was it my trip to Jiuzhaigou? Or my trip to Inner Mongolia?

  8. Pausing.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In Jiuzhaigou, I saw green lake water. In Inner Mongolia, I saw yellow dunes.

  10. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Both were eye-opening experience.

  11. Pausing.

  12. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No quite, not in Inner Mongolia. I had to wear a goggle so that fine sand couldn't be blown in my eyes.

  13. Act 2

  14. INT. STUDY - CONTINUOUS

  15. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I went to Jiuzhaigou in January. I recall it was so cold that bottled water placed inside the coach turned into bottled ice cubes.

  16. Recalling.

  17. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was then very interested in making short videos with my iPad Mini.

  18. Recalling.

  19. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Having captured my favourite moments, I shared my audio-visual work to inspire others to protect nature.

  20. Peter taps the YouTube icon on his phone screen.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Where's my video Heavens on Earth?

  22. Peter finds it.

  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, it was done in Jan, 2015.

  24. Pausing.

  25. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was still on pre-retirement leave then. After my formal retirement in March, 2015, I visited Inner Mongolia in June that year.

  26. Pausing.

  27. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So, the trips represented my favourite moment 6 years ago - not within the past 5 years. Time really flies.

  28. Thinking.

  29. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My trip to Ishikagi in July, 2017 was dreamlike. I wrote a tri-lingual song called Love At 1st Sight and published it on YouTube.

  30. Finding the music video on YouTube, Peter inserts it as his Quora answer. Soon, Peter sees an upvote and checks the upvoter's identity.

  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, he made the answer request - a Harvard U graduate.

  32. Pausing.

  33. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Ishikagi was nice and I went again in June 2019. I meant to go in summer, 2020 too.

  34. Peter takes a deep breadth.

  35. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's nowhere I could go safely since March, 2020.

  36. The TV is on, playing stories about Hollywood. We hear:...revenue has gone down by 80% from 2019.

  37. Thinking.

  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But it doesn't mean that people don't need the contents. It's only that the mode of watching content has changed due to the pandemic.

  39. Thinking.

  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If I wrote screenplays and made films for a living, I'd also be adversely impacted by the pandemic.

  41. Pausing.

  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As a self-employed in private legal practice, business is as usual.

  43. Pausing.

  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yesterday, I had the leisure of going to a audio-visual shop and bought a few inexpensive DVDs.

  45. Pausing.

  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't have the capacity to make any film as good as them.

  47. Pausing.

  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And even if I could, they won't have any popular appeal.

  49. Act 3

  50. INT. STUDY - LATER

  51. Phone in hand, Peter continues to check other Quora answer requests.

  52. PETER (V.O.): What role do I play in my life movie?

  53. Pausing.

  54. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I play the leading role. As a protagonist, I've my core values and creative ideas. I face challenges and resolve conflicts.

  55. Thinking.

  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can't save the world. But I can create and deliver some value, playing my role to make life beautiful.

  57. Thinking.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Life is about experiential moments and isn't about owning things.

  59. Pausing.

  60. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):My favourite moment is always the moment when I feel life and nature are one.

  61. Reflecting.

  62. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And sometimes, I don't know what is the worth of a moment until it becomes a memory which can be priceless.

  63. Pausing.

  64. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's why I love to document memories. I cherish today's moments as they are tomorrow's sweet memories.

  65. FADE OUT.

  66. THE END
