FADE IN
Act 1
EXT. STREETS - 18:00
PETER and his WIFE are walking KAJI, the family pet, toward a riverside park.
WIFE: Today is our sweetheart's 9th birthday, and I'm glad that our younger son has just returned from Sydney to celebrate with us.
Peter's wife notices Peter isn't wearing a hat.
WIFE (Cont'd): Oh, you're not wearing a hat like you usually do since you injured your forehead.
PETER: No, I feel different now.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): I've recognized the true significance of our younger son returning from Sydney and seeing the healing wound on my forehead at home.
Pausing.
PETER (Cont'd): We're truly grateful for the thoughtful gesture of our son's girlfriend who visited us at home this afternoon and brought me the anti-scar gel that she and her family use.
Happiness is evident in their smiles.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. LIVING ROOM - 13:30 (Earlier today)
Peter's doctor SON, fit and sharp-eyed, examines Peter's forehead wound with clinical precision. His WIFE watches nearby.
PETER (V.O.): Dignity is insisting I'm fine while secretly counting the days and hours until our son is relatively free at home.
SON: The stitches are out, the wound is closed enough.
PETER: I feel itchy around the wound.
WIFE: Does it mean that a new skin is still being formed?
Their son re-examines the wound.
SON: There's no redness, swelling or discharge.
WIFE: I notice that the bandages and sweat may have irritated his skin around the wound.
SON: The healing is nearly perfect.
PETER: Glad my skull measures up to your high standards.
PETER (Cont'd): As there's no infection, can I resume my daily swim then? It's my way to keep me healthy.
SON: Safe to swim in the pool in a week as the water is chlorinated.
WIFE: And you'd only swim in the sea a month from now.
PETER: Okay!
WIFE: How about the scar? Will it fade?
SON: Does Dad mind?
PETER (V.O.): I've many horizontal wrinkles on my forehead; I wouldn't mind having a vertical one.
WIFE: A line of stitches on his forehead isn't a great look.
Pausing.
WIFE (Cont'd): I've been applying an anti-scar tape to help with it.
Having examined the tape, their son shows them a scar on his leg.
SON: I injured my leg a year ago, and the scar is still noticeable.
SON (Cont'd): In any event, the scar would take time to fade, if it fades at all.
PETER (V.O.): I accept the consequence of my own making.
INT. BATHROOM - LATER
Peter lathers the sampoo with great enthusiam.
PETER (V.O.): Freedom! I don't need my wife to help me with it.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Fearing infection, I made an effort to keep my forehead wound dry for the past four weeks.
Showering from head to toe.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Love isn't in the drama - it's in the details.
Showering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Healing isn't just physical - it's about feeling like yourself again.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 21:15
Peter adds an image of the anti-scar gel that his son's girlfriend gave him to a draft on his laptop.
PETER (V.O.): Love letters come in many forms - like prescriptions from someone who understands my injury without asking.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The best scar in Hong Kong? A father who proudly admits his son's girlfriend chose the perfect ointment.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And a scar fades faster under a roof that knows my name.
FADE OUT
