Act 2
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Sitting before his computer, Peter is thinking.
PETER (V.O.): Incidentally, who's this Jennifer Eccles?
PETER surfs the web with his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I see, it's the combination of the first name of a band member's wife and the maiden name of another. So smart! And they can sing from their hearts.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was 13-14 then. I did some private tutoring. And that's all.
Remembering.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Later, I bought my first guitar with the tuition fee I earned. The guitar was made in China. I never tuned it right and practised a lot without theory - going nowhere.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I worked at the Castle Peak Hotel as a waiter and saw other teenagers performing on stage, I envied them a lot.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They showed their talents, enjoyed themselves and entertained others. I was just selling my labour.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At that time, my career dream was to become a band guitarist.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There wasn't any opportunity that I could follow the creative and entertainment path then.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.): And just six months before I had to take my Form 5 public exam, my school academic performance was poor. I got a D+ grading.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was hooked with "+" as I thought within the D (Poor) category, there wasn't anything positive.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): After my 1970 Christmas stage performance in school, I decided to refocus on my studies and to forget my teenage dream.
Act 3
As Peter taps the YouTube icon on his phone screen, we hear pop music from the 1960s.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, everyone has a different life trajectory. They made a huge difference in the pop scene when they're young. I didn't have the capacity and support.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's nothing to prevent me, even as a senior citizen, to re-live my dream.
Pondering.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Apart from love songs, I can write other themes and use different art forms to express my emotions. And I'm now rich in life experience.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't have to be commercial. I just synthesize the positive and the negative, capturing and delivering value in my own artistic ways!
FADE OUT.
THE END.
