Kaji: A Safe Place

Act 1

INT. SITTING ROOM - MORNING

Some loud sounds from a distance. KAJI sees PETER's going out.

KAJI (V.O.): It seems that even home isn't safe. Can I join?

PETER: Stay home.

Exiting, Peter closes the door.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Days ago, I sneaked out after him but was caught back.

Recalling.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But as an obedient pet, don't I deserve a safe place?

Act 2

INT. SITTING ROOM - LATER

KAJI (V.O.): I hear some noises behind the door.

Kaji goes and waits at the door.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, it's Peter!

Kaji whines as she sees Peter carrying a piece of bread in a transparent bag.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Welcome back with our bread!

INT. DINING ROOM - LATER

They take their seats and share the bread.

PETER: Finished.

KAJI (V.O.): My 2nd breakfast is coming up.

INT. BEDROOM - LATER

Returning to bed, Kaji sleeps between Peter's legs. Hearing some noises from a distance, Kaji moves closer to Peter. Then, the PACK LEADER rolls over.

PACK LEADER: Could you please go and buy breakfast?

PETER: Yes, anything, anytime.

Exits Peter.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Who's here to cuddle me then? The pack leader doesn't seem to have heard anything.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): The best way I can avoid disappointment is not to expect anything from anyone. I should help myself.

Kaji surveys the bed space.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Peter's vacant spot should be a secure shelter for me.

Another round of loud sounds from a distance.

ACT 3

INT. BEDROOM - LATER

As the returning Peter opens the door, he looks shocked.

PETER: Ah! You've usurped my position.

KAJI (V.O.): Is that right? it's just a safe place.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Moreover, I'm staying home to help you guard the Pack Leader and to obey her commands.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): As we share everything, your safe place is no exception.

As Peter takes a photo, Kaji stares at him in defiance.

FADE OUT.
