Act 1
INT. HOME - DAY (Yesterday)
Rain slams against the window.
KAJI climbs up the sofa and collapses on PETER's body.
KAJI (V.O.): I'm scared of rainstorms.
The PACK LEADER walks past, patting Kaji's head.
PACK LEADER: We won't go out today.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I prefer staying home too.
Peter rubs Kaji's belly. Kaji closes her eyes.
Near them, a glass terrarium. Inside, a turtle, blinks once.
Clock ticks. Hours pass. Kaji shifts from sofa to hallway to bed.
Act 2
INT. HOME - MORNING
Grey. Drizzle, not downpour.
Kaji sniffs the air.
KAJI (V.O.): Same damp cold.
She turns and trots toward the dining room to join Peter for breakfast.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Yesterday was a trap. Today is the same trap.
Peter passes her bread slices.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Yes, our morning ritual.
After breakfast, Kaji joins Peter on the sofa. She licks his nose.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): That's how I reciprocate.
INT. HOME - AFTERNOON
Kaji is resting in the massage chair.
Then - footsteps.
The Pack Leader appears, holding a leash.
PACK LEADER: A quick walk?
KAJI (V.O.): In this weather?
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): Peter hasn't come back yet.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.)(Cont'd): I believe it's my call.
Kaji leaves the massage chair carefully.
Leash clips on. Door opens.
EXT. RIVERSIDE PARK - LATER
The river is grey, swollen with rain. Kaji pulls gently.
No other dogs. No people. Just wet grass.
Then a familiar voice.
PETER: Hi there!
Kaji spins.
Peter appears, holding the turtle whose legs are paddling air.
KAJI (V.O.): Glad that you could come.
We see Peter putting the turtle on wet grass. It runs.
Then, a distraction - a black bird lands.
Kaji freezes. Her body lowers. Predator mode.
KAJI (V.O.): This is the moment.
She bolts. The Pack Leader holds the leash tight. The bird notices. It lifts off. Kaji catches nothing.
Act 3
EXT. RIVERSIDE PATH - CONTINUOUS
Kaji walks first. Her head turns every few steps.
Left - check the Pack Leader. Right - check Peter and the turtle in his bag.
Another bird lands a few meters ahead. Kaji's ears flick toward it. She glances at Peter.
KAJI (V.O.): The bird is nothing. The pack is everything.
Kaji keeps walking. Head turning. Always looking back.
The four of them - Kaji in front; the Pack Leader and Peter side by side, turtle between them - disappear down the wet path.
Kaji looks over her shoulder one last time.
Her mouth opens. A happy pant.
