Kaji: Life Beyond the Sunsets

FADE IN.

Act 1

EXT. STREETS - LATE AFTERNOON

Kaji runs and leads the PACK LEADER. PETER is far behind with a dog carrier.

KAJI (V.O.): I'm so excited with our "Kai-Kai" time.

INT. PET GARDEN - LATER

Arriving, KAJI notices some difference.

KAJI (V.O.): The lawn at the centre has been enclosed by barriers.

Observing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): None of my friends are here.

Having chosen her favourite spot, Kaji does the usual thing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): When the Pack Leader isn't home, only Peter or the maid might keep me company.

Act 2

FLASHBACK

INT. SITTING ROOM - MORNING

Gloomy weather. Kaji sits restlessly on the sofa, as PETER joins her.

KAJI (V.O.): If it's a sunny day, I won't see Peter here.

Kaji puts her head on Peter's lap.

END FLASHBACK

EXT. PROMENADE - EVENING

The sun is just under the sky and over the sea.

KAJI (V.O.): The sunshine is warm and beautiful.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I feel like being chased and kissed by the sun.

Staring at Kaji, Peter chats with the Pack Leader.

PETER: Look, the colour of her fur has been doubly-dyed with the orange-yellow colour.

The Pack Leader puts Kaji on a bench as other PASSERS-BY walk past.

KAJI (V.O.): Is my soul also dyed with the colour of my thoughts?

Having captured Kaji's portraits, they walk on.

KAJI (Cont'd): Little lovely moments with them. Does the sun has to set at all?

EXT. MALL#1 - LATER

Crowded. Kaji gets attention from STRANGERS from time to time.

KAJI (V.O.): I don't demand any recognition. I know my own worth.

Getting Peter's endorsement, STRANGER#1 touches Kaji affectionately before kissing her forehead.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I'm a girl too. It's like the sun's kissing to the night.

ACT 3

EXT. STREETS - NIGHT

City lights.

KAJI (V.O.): The cool lights turn the ordinary into something extraordinary.

Strolling.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Am I a small ray of light to brighten the days of the Pack Leader and the Gang? Anywhere, anytime and anyway?

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): If there's life beyond the sunsets, it'd be with them.

They walk towards an estate.

FADE OUT.
