Kaji: Paradise Lost
FADE IN
Act 1
INT. HOME - DAY
Resting in her old sofa, KAJI hears Peter saying "Kai Kai".
KAJI (V.O.): Is that right?
Having looked at PETER, Kaji looks around.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Pack Leader isn't home yet.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Anyhow, I thank Peter for his indication.
Kaji leaves her sofa.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): We're going to my paradise soon.
Hearing door bell sounds, Kaji barks enthusiastically.
Act 2
EXT. ROADS - LATER
Inside a car, Kaji is sitting in the driver seat.
KAJI (V.O.) : Away from home, this is the best seat.
Entering Peter.
PETER: Cross over.
Crossing over to the passenger seat, Kaji sits on the lap of the PACK LEADER.
KAJI (V.O.): Once I've obeyed Peter's command, the car will move.
As the car is moving, Kaji puts her head outside the car window.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Sniffing like that, I feel like reigning in heaven.
Kaji whines a little.
EXT. PET GARDEN - LATER
Getting out of the car with the Pack Leader, Kaji runs parallel to some white-and-orange barriers.
KAJI (V.O.): Strange, I can neither see nor hear my friends...
Hesitating.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Am I running in the right direction?
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I've to believe my nose. My paradise is right here.
Stopping.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I must be too excited that I've run past the entrance.
Turning around, Kaji runs past Peter, who is reading something posted on one of the barriers.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): The entrance should be around here, but it isn't here!
Leading the Pack Leader, Kaji keeps on running.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I won't submit.
Running around the barricaded area, Kaji and the Pack Leader see Peter again.
PETER: The pet garden was closed to facilitate the development of the area.
PACK LEADER: OMG! Paradise Lost!
KAJI (V.O.): Is solitude sometimes the best society?
EXT. ANOTHER ROADSIDE - LATER
Getting off the car with the Pack Leader, Kaji walks along a pavement.
KAJI (V.O.): Before we found our paradise, we used to come here.
Pausing.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): With no grass to kick, here's hell-like. How can I get light here?
PACK LEADER: You've to adapt to the change this time.
KAJI (V.O.): I'm actually desperate...
Reluctantly, Kaji obeys the calls of nature.
PACK LEADER: Good, we can go to your hairdresser now.
KAJI (V.O.): What?
Act 3
INT. HOME - NIGHT
We see a new igloo dog house. As the Pack Leader throws a treat inside, Kaji goes in to retrieve it.
KAJI (V.O.): Not all is lost.
Seeing the Pack Leader in the kitchen, Kaji goes to sit near Peter and gets a secret treat from him.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): For food, my mind isn't to be changed by place or time.
Licking her lips before Peter, Kaji gets another secret treat from him.
KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): A mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.
As the Pack Leader joins them, Kaji gets another treat from her.
