Kaji: Something Sweet

FADE IN.

Act 1

EXT. STREETS - FRIDAY NIGHT

Inside a pet backpack carrier, KAJI observes from the bubble window the street activities.

KAJI (V.O.): I can see many moving cars. That may be why I'm being carried.

Recalling.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Just then, I was the star of the show of a party. I was their only fury friend. They all treat me well, at least for a while.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Up there, I've already had my supper, but I haven't had my dessert yet.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): They just gave me treats, as if they're disserts. Am I already sweet enough?

Act 2

EXT. ROADS - LATER

As the carrier bag opens, Kaji emerges and sees PETER sitting in the middle row of their car.

KAJI (V.O.): Ha! You're here!

Quickly, Kaji sits on Peter's lap, looking out the lowered window.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I feel much better now. The capsule isn't a fun place.

GANG MEMBER#1 drives the car away.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Watching the scenes with Peter inside a spacious car is so reassuringly different.

As the car makes turns, Kaji adjusts her balance.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Peter's lap provides such a steady support. I'm confident that I won't fall.

Kaji sees something interesting.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Where's this district? I don't think I've been here.

Having sniffed deeply, Kaji smiles.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can smell fruits, lots of them, including apples.

FLASHBACK

INT. HOME - NIGHT

Gang MEMBER#2 is relaxing in a massage chair, holding a plate of sliced apples. Seeing that, Kaji jumps from a sofa to join gang member#2.

KAJI (V.O.): Share some slices with me, please.

Pretentiously, gang member#2 hesitates.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Come on! I've lost my patience.

Kaji makes some whining sounds.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): But it seems that the gang member enjoys hearing more.

RETURN TO PRESENT

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although I love meat and bones, I don't mind to have something sweet.

Pausing.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's plenty of fruits for desserts here. I believe this is our destination.

The car leaves the district.

INT. CAR PARK - LATER

Inside a parking lot, gang Member#1 and Peter are putting Kaji inside the pet carrier with some difficulty.

MEMBER#1: Sit!

KAJI (V.O.): Okay.

Having zipped up the bag, Member#1 carries Kaji on his back.

KAJI (V.O.): I don't like to be taken care of like this actually.

Act 3

INT. KITCHEN - LATER

Kaji sees Peter closing the fridge door.

KAJI (V.O.): He must have got some fruit for our dessert.

Kaji sniffs.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd):What smells good must taste good.

Seeing Kaji licking her lips, Peter shares some fruit with her.

KAJI (V.O.) (Cont'd): We are what we eat. So eat something sweet.

EXT. STREETS - SUNDAY NIGHT

Kaji walks the PACK LEADER and gang member#1.

KAJI (V.O.): With me, they'll never walk alone. Isn't it sweet?
