  4. PETER checks some jars in racks.


  5. PETER (V.O.): Where do they place the honey?


  6. Checking.


  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What are these new items?


  8. Peter checks the labels of two jars.


  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What is Kaya 咖吔?


  10. Checking.


  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Is it the same as 咖央?


  12. Peter captures a photo of the new merchandise.


  13. Act 2


  14. FLASHBACK


  15. EXT. STANLEY STREET, CENTRAL - DAY (1958)


  16. A long row of sidewalk snack booths. Peter (4) and his DAD (26) sit at a table.


  17. DAD: One 咖央多!


  18. PETER (V.O.): What's 咖央多? We used to have 奶油多.


  19. Pausing.


  20. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Toast (多 ) is already nice. We don't have a toaster oven at home.


  21. Pausing.


  22. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Toast with butter is nicer. We don't have a fridge to keep butter at home.


  23. Pausing.


  24. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Our home is at 3 Graham Street 1/F, Central, overlooking these snack booths.


  25. Pausing.


  26. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My family members wanted me to memorize our home address. If I got lost, the Police can take me home.


  27. Pausing.


  28. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I know 奶油多 is toast with butter and sweetened condensed milk. It's my favourite.


  29. A WAITER puts one 咖央多 on the table. Peter examines the spread.


  30. PETER: 咖央 looks like fruit jam...


  31. Peter begins to sample his share of the toast.


  32. PETER: Oh Dad, it's very delicious!


  33. Dad smiles.


  34. SEQUENCE OF PETER'S QUEST FOR 咖央多


  35. A. SIDEWALK SNACK BOOTH, HUNG SHUI KIU (1964 - 1968). We hear Peter asking for 咖央多 and someone replying: What's that?


  36. B. CASTLE PEAK HOTEL. CASTLE PEAK ROAD, 17 miles (1969 - 1974). Working as a waiter, Peter checks the menu on toasts. We see no 咖央多.


  37. C. CHA CHAAN TENG, HONG KONG (1975 - 2014). Peter checks the menu and doesn't see any 咖央多 listed.


  38. D. SIDEWALK SNACK BOOTH, STANLEY STREET (2015). Having checked the menu, Peter speaks to himself: I couldn't have mistaken. My memory is vivid.


  39. END SEQUENCE


  40. EXT. MARKET, KUALA LUMPUR - DAY (2017)


  41. Guided by a FRIEND, Peter checks the merchandise on display.


  42. PETER: Have you ever heard of 咖央? It's a kind of jam.


  43. FRIEND: We have coconut jam - Kaya or 咖吔.


  44. His friend shows him some green jam in a jar.


  45. PETER: No, the colour isn't green. Anyway, I'll try it.


  46. Peter buys one bottle.


  47. INT. MALL STORE, KUALA LUMPUR - DAY (2019)


  48. Peter grabs half-a-dozen jars of green coconut jam.


  49. PETER (V.O.): They taste similar to the one I had when I was a kid. But the 咖央 I had wasn't green.


  50. RETURN TO PRESENT


  51. Act 3


  52. INT. KITCHEN - LATER


  53. Opening a jar of coconut egg kaya, Peter examines it.


  54. PETER (V.O.): The colour is right. But it looks thick and less liquid than the ones I bought in KL and what I first tried when I was a kid.


  55. Peter samples it.


  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The texture is rich. It tastes alright...


  57. Pausing.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But no flavour can beat the one I had when my Dad was around.


  59. Peter looks lost.


  60. FADE OUT
