Driving his numeric-blue SMART, PETER checks the mileage at the dashboard.
PETER (V.O.): I bought this car in 2003 and its mileage is still under 30,000 km.
EXT. GOLDEN COAST CAR PARK - LATER
Having parked the car, Peter takes an image of himself through the reflection of the car's rear window.
PETER (V.O.): Yes, that's me.
EXT. SWIMMING AREA, GOLDEN COAST BEACH - LATER
Peter swims around the whole area.
PETER (V.O.): I enjoy swimming in the sea. I won't be swimming here for at least a week. I'm going to take my 2nd jab tomorrow.
Peter swims back to the shore.
Act 2
INT. LAKESIDE RESTUARANT - NOON
Peter is having steamed rice topped with a grilled eel fillet.
PETER (V.O.): As I can't have it in Japan, I'm having Unadon here. But the taste makes me yearn to visit Japan.
Peter sips his ice coffee.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This freshly-brewed one is excellent though.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'll have ice creams and lolly sticks at home later.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is how I enjoy my simple life now.
EXT. ESTATE LAKE - AFTERNOON
Walking around, Peter observes the fish swimming in the water.
PETER (V.O.): When my late wife and I first bought our home here in 1983, boat-hire services were available here.
Peter takes a look of the boathouse.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No one would run a money-losing business.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's why I went rowing at Ueno Park in Tokyo.
INT. PETER'S NT HOME - AFTERNOON
Sitting Room, G/F. Background music. Peter turns on an air-conditioner.
PETER (V.O.): This air-conditioner was installed in 1983, and it's still functioning well.
Sitting in a revolving sofa, Peter begins to enjoy his ice cream and ice lollies.
PETER (V.O.): I like sweet stuff.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although few can entertain me more than I do, I entertained some answer requests in Quora before leaving my city home.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Someone asked me what was the best hidden bonus I found in my home after living here for years?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I read other answers. They're long narratives - all about windfall.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I just inserted a photo taken from the balcony with two words: Loving Memory.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is actually what I find whenever I come back.
Peter begins his decluttering.
Act 3
EXT. ROADS TO CITY - NIGHT
Peter is driving his signal-red Nissan S13.
PETER (V.O.): This morning, I heard a medical expert's opinion on vaccination safety.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He noted that the casualty rate didn't increase with the increase of vaccination rate. Thus, there's no casual link between the two.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Not just scientific, but consoling. I should still have some time.
Taking a look at the dashboard, Peter checks the car's mileage.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I bought this coupe in 1989, its mileage is still under 130,000 km. I should like to increase that.
Peter accelerates.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've spent too many years putting others' interest before me.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm alone, enjoying the pleasure of my own company!
