  1. FADE IN.

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. SITTING ROOM- 21:15

  4. Peter's WIFE enters.

  5. PETER (V.O.): Welcome home.

  6. WIFE: The New Beetle's indicator lamps have stopped working. They don't flash.

  7. PETER: I'll take it to our car repairer to fix it.

  8. WIFE: Do it coming Saturday. I want to drive to work tomorrow.

  9. PETER: It's dangerous. Can you drive another car?

  10. WIFE: The car park gatekeeper would only allow prior-registered cars to park.

  11. PETER: Let me drive you to work then. Although our car repairer offers one-stop service, he can only order spare parts on week days.

  12. Act 2

  13. EXT. CAR PARK - 09:30

  14. Peter's wife gets off from Peter's Mercedes.

  15. PETER (V.O.): Our car repairer closes at 20:00 and opens before 11:00. Should I go to the beach first? No, I won't enjoy it.

  16. From the car radio, we hear: The stock market has opened lower in four straight sessions.

  17. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, acting timely is important.

  18. INT. CLUBHOUSE - 10:15

  19. Sitting on a sofa, Peter is glued to his smartphone screen.

  20. PETER (V.O.): I came across a stock called Autohome. I read about its one-stop online solution to users, from automakers to car purchasers, in Mainland China.

  21. Reading.

  22. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When the company did its secondary listing in Hong Kong in March 2021, the price per share was over $176.

  23. Pausing.

  24. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): On Monday this week, I bought a lot at $96.

  25. Checking.

  26. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): On Wednesday this week, I bought my second lot at $86.

  27. Checking.

  28. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This morning, the last asking price is just $79. Should I buy a third lot to average down the costs of my shares?

  29. Tapping.

  30. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've made an offer lower than $79 - the lower I buy, the lesser I lose. Trading ends at 16:00.

  31. EXT - ROADS - 10:30

  32. Peter drives the New Beetle slowly.

  33. PETER (V.O.): As the indicator lamps aren't working, let me use the emergency lights to warn other road users that there's something wrong with my car.

  34. Tapping the emergency light switch, Peter sees no response.

  35. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, is that the cause of the problem?

  36. Driving very carefully, Peter looks out for cars near and far.

  37. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm the one who's primarily responsible to stop any emergency from happening.

  38. INT. CAR REPAIRER - 10.45

  39. A MECHANIC is testing the New Beetle's light switches, as Peter narrates the problem.

  40. MECHANIC: The emergency light switch is out of order. Not sure if a spare part is available in Hong Kong.

  41. PETER (V.O.): Yes, the car is 20 years old already.

  42. While the Mechanic is sending messages, Peter goes to a garage to check his Nissan 200SX.

  43. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Like a home, my coupe has been staying here since early September, as spare parts for a 32-year old car are hard to find.

  44. Recalling.

  45. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In the mid 1970s, I had to find and buy the spare parts myself for mechanics to fix my cars. There was no concept of one-stop solution.

  46. Recalling.

  47. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While authorized repairers offer "one-stop" service, the first stop is to make an appointment, not to mention the non-waivable high examination fee.

  48. Recalling.

  49. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Apart from time and money, services are often impersonal. I don't meet up with mechanics fixing my cars.

  50. Pausing.

  51. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I treat my cars as a part of me. I love them and they're all attached to me.

  52. Act 3

  53. INT. SITTING ROOM - 14:30

  54. Happily, Peter places car keys in a tray.

  55. PETER (V.O.): Done! For car matters, I'm my family's one-stop solution.

  56. Peter sends a message with photos to his wife.

  57. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was fortunate that a spare part was available. Once the malfunctioned emergency light switch was replaced, the indicator lights function properly.

  58. Pausing.

  59. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It so happened that the car's battery went dead. I've it replaced at the car repairer, saving time and trouble.

  60. Peter taps an App on his smartphone screen.

  61. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Using the same App, I can pull money to enhance my buying power. I've amended my order to buy my third lot of Autohome at the last asking price.

  62. Thinking.

  63. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): One-stop solution to life's problems is desirable. And I can feel how people love their cars.

  64. FADE OUT

  65. THE END
