PETER in casual wear is queuing at the entrance.
PETER (V.O.): I don't know about this "ice house", but I see a queue.
Later, after being led inside, Peter reads the menu.
PETER (VO.) (Cont'd): Ah! It has Fried Noodles Vegetable Deluxe.
Recalling.
PETER (VO.) (Cont'd): When I was a part-time hotel waiter, I recommend this noodles dish to guests.
Recalling.
PETER (VO.) (Cont'd): While I was working in Wanchai, I had this noodles dish as lunch regularly.
Reading.
PETER (VO.) (Cont'd): Ah! It has Iced Pineapple... Tolo Harbour Style?
Act 2
FLASHBACK
EXT. 23 1/2 Miles, CASTLE PEAK ROAD- NOON (1964)
At the entrance Park U Middle School, Peter (10) gets close to a HAWKER (20s) with an ice box fixed on his bicycle.
PETER: One slice of Iced Pineapple please.
Peter pays 10 cents as the hawker passes him a slice of Iced Pineapple in a translucent bag.
PETER (V.O.): He's the "ice-cream boy" living in my village. His home has a big fridge! My family hasn't a fridge.
Unwrapping the bag carefully, Peter begins to sip the pineapple juice before eating the slice very slowly.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.): I was half-way back to my primary school - Po Kok - after lunch. If I had 10 cents to buy it, it'd make my day.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can still remember the bitter taste of the bag. The pineapple juice sweetens it. That was my Iced Pineapple - Hung Shui Kiu Style!
Having scanned the QR code, Peter taps icons to do his order.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Technology is part of everyday life.
Later, WAITRESS#1 places on Peter's table a slice of pineapple in a glass full of dry ice smoke.
CUSTOMER#1: What's that?
PETER (V.O.): The fog effect is Tolo Harbour Style.
Soon thereafter, a dish of Fried Noodles Vegetables Deluxe is placed before Peter. He samples it.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Delicious! Exactly the taste that I miss.
Quickly, not a bit is left.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I like fried stuff, but I also want to be healthy. This is a good mix.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For many years after 1992, I didn't eat meat.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I drank a lot of carrot juice. I believed it might boost my immunity and might provide anti-cancer effects.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Later, when I learned that eating lemon pulps might be good for gut health, I began eating them.
Smiling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I once did it in front of a friend. I can still remember her impossible facial gestures.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When life gives me lemons, I just swallow them - tasting one of life's flavours.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And then I may add honey and water to get a cleansing feeling.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's how I stay positive in adversities.
Act 3
INT. CAFE DE BEANS, SHEUNG SHUI - TODAY
Peter in a black suit is finishing the Fried Noodles Vegetables Deluxe.
PETER (V.O.): Having done hectic court work, I come here again to reward myself.
Peter begins to enjoy the Iced Pineapple - Tolo Harbour Style.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Pineapple is sweet on the inside.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): Before peeling, its external appearance is symbolic - wearing a crown and standing tall.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is how I'm leading my pineapple-like life.
Peter looks content.
