FADE IN
Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 08:30 (Sunday)
Soft, golden light streams through the window. PETER sits up in bed, scrolling through his phone.
PETER (V.O.): Jimmy Carter said "Imagine" is played like a national anthem in many countries...
Peter surfs the web.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "Imagine" ranked #3 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Nodding.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Almost a national anthem. Number three.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I love the music. I love the lyrics. I play it loosely, though.
A determined look crosses his face.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Maybe it's time to learn it properly.
Act 2
INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Peter open's his PAD2. He types into YouTube: How to play Imagine on piano.
PETER (V.O.): Quite a lot of online tutorials.
Peter clicks the first video. A man plays it, mumbling instructions.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's a simplfied version of "Imagine".
He clicks off, scrolls further and clicks another video. He sees and hears a "Preview": Imagine there's no heaven. It's easy if you try.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's captivating.
We hear from screen: requests...do the exact version...I'm going to teach how to play exactly what you hear on the record...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's what I want.
We hear from screen:..Start with the Cadd9...A Bb B...Does he play the D in Cadd9 every time?
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Hmm, John plays the Cadd9 chord loosely. Sometimes with the nine, sometimes without.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I think the 9th note isn't always necessary. Sometimes, leaving it out says more than playing it at all.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If John didn't play it perfectly, he played it honestly. That's only instruction worth following.
MONTAGE OF PETER'S PRACTISING
A. Sunday. Peter's fingers fumble over the keys.
B. Monday. Muscle memory kicks in. His left hand nails the bass line. His right hand finds the looseness.
C. Tuesday. Peter plays the entire song from memory. The loose Cadd9 hangs in the air beautifully.
END MONTAGE
INT. LIVING ROOM - 20:00
Peter takes his hands off the keys.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Not bad at all.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Creativity isn't about hitting every note. It's about making every note I hit count - and forgiving the ones I don't.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): John released the song when he was 31. I didn't start composing until my late 50s.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm 72.John was gone by 40. But I'm still here.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My passion waits quietly and resurfaces when time is right.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Youth play to impress. Age plays to express.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But my songs published publicly on YouTube have dismal view counts. Dozens of views, hundreds at best.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):That's a loose audience - and a loose audience is still an audience.
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 22:00
Peter uploads an image to a draft on his laptop. It shows his right hand on a piano keyboard, pressing keys as if forming a chord.
PETER (V.O.): Perfection is a closed fist. Art is an open hand. Play it loosely.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My creative journey is mine. Fame metrics don't measure meaning. Doing better day by day, is enough.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My inner creative self doesn't age. I can still dream, imagine, and hope to create something that move people - even if it's just one person.
The END
