FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. STUDIO - EVENING
PETER is unboxing a white Traveller ultra-light electric guitar.
PETER (V.O.): After a week's wait, it has finally arrived - a Monday delight.
FLASHBACK
INT. TOM LEE MUSIC - DAY (Aug 2, 2021)
Peter is checking the guitars on display.
PETER (V.O.): I haven't come here for months. I've too many guitars.
Having seen the Traveller ultra-light electric guitars on display, Peter checks the price.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, they're 5% cheaper than the previous three that I bought.
Peter compares a red one with a white one.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I haven't bought a white one before.
Act 2
INT. TOM LEE MUSIC - CONTINUOUS
A STAFF passes by and gives Peter a look.
PETER: I want to buy the white one.
Having checked the exact guitar model, the staff investigates the store's inventory records in a computer.
STAFF: I'll arrange to deliver a brand-new one to you next Monday.
PETER: Okay.
PETER (V.O.): The staff has sold me many guitars before. I believe she knew I don't need any immediate gratification.
INT. SITTING ROOM - NIGHT (Aug 8, 2021)
Peter and his WIFE are waiting at the door. Their younger DAUGHTER is returning home with her former CLASSMATE and her MOM.
MOM (to Peter): We haven't met since you broke your ankle at the ice-skating rink.
PETER: Yes, that was in 2009. Glad that you'd come with your daughter to join us for a hotpot dinner.
They continue to exchange small talks.
MOM (to Peter): I used to sing a lot of Karaoke. I've been singing on stage with a band now.
PETER: Have you felt the difference?
MOM: Singing live is more challenging. My voice has become thin. I might not sing on beat. I can forget the lyrics.
PETER: Yes. How often do you perform? And how many songs do you sing each time?
MOM: Three times a year. For each song we sing, we've to pay a sum. And that does not include the rehearsal fees with the band.
PETER : Quite a business model.
MOM: We're given complimentary tickets. Some audience would buy the concert tickets themselves.
INT. DINING ROOM - LATER
Hotpot dinner. The party chat.
MOM: Do you sing?
WIFE: No, my voice isn't good.
PETER: Hmm, I'm a singer-song writer.
MOM: Is that right?
PETER: I've written dozens of songs. I've turned them into music-videos. I've also written songs that I can't sing.
MOM: It's the fun that matters. Have you published your songs on YouTube?
Taking a look of his wife and daughter, Peter hesitates.
PETER (V.O.): They don't support me. They've their own idols. I avoid showing my works to them. But now, it's difficult to decline a guest's request.
MOM (Cont'd): Just let me have your YouTube address.
Using mobiles, they begin watching and listening to Peter's music-videos on YouTube.
INT. LIFT LOBBY - NIGHT
Peter is seeing off his daughter's former classmate and her mom.
PETER: Thank you for coming!
MOM: Write more songs!
Peter nods.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. STUDIO - CONTINUOUS
After checking the guitar's finishing, Peter tunes it using a small guitar amplifier and a digital guitar tuner.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It looks and sounds perfect.
Peter then fixes a light-blue belt to the guitar.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I couldn't remember when did I buy the guitar belt. A white colour guitar matches belts of any colours.
We hear sounds of the oldies in the background.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My last significant work was "At 65". It has been over two years that I haven't had a good composition.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Would the recent events reignite my passion? Let me re-do my work-life balance.
Peter strums a chord.
FADE OUT.
