Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 07:00
PETER wakes up.
PETER (V.O): I've an annual IP conference to attend today.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Every year, Mainland China, and its Special Administrative Regions (SARs) of Macao and Hong Kong take turns to host it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Weeks ago, I learned from the Bar Association that Hong Kong's Intellectual Property Dept (IPD) is hosting the 2024 conference.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): As I've retired as the Head of IPD for 10 years, I thought I might like to check it out.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): When I read the particulars, I noticed that Ms Chan, whom I hadn't met for over 10 years, would be representing the Macao SAR.
Act 2
INT. MARRIOT HOTEL - 08:50
A few souls. Peter approaches the conference registration desk and speaks to the STAFF.
PETER (V.O.): New faces.
PETER: My name is Peter Cheung.
Spotting his name badge on a desk, Peter picks it up.
PETER (Cont'd): That's me.
Then, VIVIEN approaches Peter.
VIVIEN: Mr Cheung, you're so early...
PETER (V.O.): A majority of my former colleagues insist to call me "Mr Cheung" rather than Peter. But it's so nice to hear that again now.
PETER: The conference begins at 9:30 right?
VIVIEN: Yes.
PETER (V.O): I hope I can reunite with Ms Chan before the conference begins.
Later, Peter sees a crowd gathering.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Wow, so many participants.
Entering a conference hall, Peter manages to find a vacant non-reserved seat at the back.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): My former colleagues are doing a good job.
When the MC announces:...Ms Chan...Peter looks excited and takes photos of her on stage with his mobile from a distance.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Reuniting with her is the sole purpose of my coming here...But she doesn't know I'm here.
Later, we hear a MODERATOR saying: The floor is now open. Immediately, we see a MAN sitting next to Peter raising his hand.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): The speaking opportunities belong to active participants.
The man makes his intervention.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): But if I ask a question, I identify myself and Ms Chan would know I'm sitting here.
When the reply from a SPEAKER on stage ends, Peter raises his hand, but a WOMAN sitting a row head of him does the same.
MODERATOR: The lady...
When the reply from the SPEAKER on stage ends, Peter raises his hand again, but the moderator looks to the other side of the conference hall.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'll engage Ms Chan during the morning coffee break then.
Morning coffee break. While walking towards the front, Peter bumps into RICKY and PAT. They chat and chat.
INT. TEAHOUSE - 13:30
Peter is having lunch with Ricky and Pat, chatting endlessly.
PETER (V.O): They're my dear music friends. I haven't met Pat for over 10 years...
INT. MARRIOT HOTEL - 15:30
Conference hall. Afternoon coffee break. Peter walks towards the front again.
PETER (V.O): Where's Ms Chan? She was here a moment ago...
Later, Peter meets BRENDA, his former colleague.
PETER: Do you see Ms Chan?
BRENDA: She asked about you, but...
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 21:45
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "Reunited At Last..." to a draft.
PETER (V.O): I did unite with Ms Chan. I think it's important to maintain or revive meaningful connections from the past.
As Peter checks his mobile screen, we see an image of him posing with a lady.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'm determined to make the most of any chance encounter and not let the opportunity to slip away.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Reunited at last, I feel a sense of closure for the past and the potential of a new chapter in my life!
