PETER is taking part in a Zoom meeting.
SOMEONE (O.S.): Hi Peter, why don't you join us in person?
PETER: I'm waiting for my younger son's homecoming from Australia.
FLASHBACK
INT. SITTING ROOM - NIGHT (August 2020)
Peter and his WIFE are doing skype with a YOUNG MAN appearing on screen.
YOUNG MAN: As the School isn't sure about hospital placements, I believe I had better apply to postpone mine to next year.
PETER and his WIFE: Come home then! You've our full support. We'll arrange your flight home.
END FLASHBACK
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): I believe he's in the COVID-19 testing holding centre in Hong Kong now.
Conversations turn to meeting agendas.
Act 2
INT. SITTING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Peter sees a phone notification.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Great! Our son has already returned home - inside our second unit on the same floor.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): During the pandemic, coming home isn't the same as before.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I used to drive to the Airport to pick my children home. Now, they've to come home by themselves.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's the mandatory COVID-19 testing requirement for returnees. And after testing negative, they still have to go through the mandatory 14-day self-isolation.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When we bought our second unit, we couldn't have imagined that it would become our COVID-19 safe house.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've been treating our second unit largely as my study and studio.
FLASHBACK
INT. STUDY - DAY
Peter is putting papers inside brief cases and disconnecting laptops cables.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've to move my stuff to our first unit creating the safe house for our son's this time. Last time was in March 2020 when our younger daughter returned from Britain.
INT. STUDIO - DAY
Peter is tidying up a Yamaha Clavinova.
PETER (V.O.): All my children first learned to play the piano with it. It's still good after over 30 years.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Only our son is at 8th grade. He'd have to wait before he can play his Kawai in our first unit.
Peter is re-stringing an electric guitar.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although he has brought one of my guitars to Australia, I doubt if he has the time to play it.
Peter is re-stringing an acoustic guitar.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I just prepare everything for him while he is in self-isolation.
Staring at an electric bass guitar and a bass amplifier.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Perhaps, he might like to become the coolest guitar player in a band.
Peter looks at all the musical instruments around him.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Over 66, I'm still learning.
Act 3
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
Having dinner with his wife, Peter has his eyes on the phone.
PETER: Our son's flight will land in 5 minutes.
Peter takes a look at KAJI, the family pet.
PETER (V.O.) Weeks later, the no-scent man will reappear with scent.
Peter looks at his phone screen again.
PETER: Arrived!
Peter types on his phone a message: Welcome home!
Smilingly, Peter finishes his dinner.
RETURN TO PRESENT
SOMEONE (On screen): Any comments from Members?
Touching the unmute icon on screen, Peter speaks.
PETER: Chair, it's Peter Cheung here...
Peter continues.
