FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. STUDY - MORNING
PETER is reading Quora notifications.
PETER (V.O.): I like to read its digest. I often discover something that I don't quite know.
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's also interesting to read divergent views on a subject. I synthesize the thesis and the antithesis, raising my level of understanding.
Reading.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Everyday, I'd receive about a dozen answer requests. I select some of them to answer, delivering value in the process.
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, this mention about Hong Kong, China, is something that I don't quite know.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): On average Intelligent Quotient (IQ) score of average IQ tests, Hong Kong, China, tops the world.
Act 2
EXT. CHA CHAAN TENG - AFTERNOON
Peter is enjoying his fried noodles while watching TV news. We hear: President Xi visits Tsinghua University ahead of its 110 anniversary,
PETER (V.O.): Upon my retirement in 2014, the first visit I made was to Tsinghua University.
Watching TV.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): President Xi got his science degree from Tsinghua. In 1996, I attended the month-long national studies course for Hong Kong senior civil servants.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was 25 years ago now. I had a great time there.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A classmate later told me that she was shocked to find that irrespective of the subject matters, I could post three short, sharp questions to professors.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I did enjoy the high-level intellectual exchanges.
Having noodles.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I still like to wear the Tsinghua University ties.
FLASHBACK
INT. OFFICE - DAY (1996)
Peter (42) is discussing with a lady colleague, SPRING FUNG.
PETER: To begin drafting the Copyright Bill in Chinese first is an unprecedented attempt.
SPRING: Yes, the drafting instructions are always in English. Let's see if we could cook up the Bill in Chinese first.
Peter nods.
SPRING (Cont'd): Otherwise, there won't be any law drafting in Chinese. The Chinese version would again be the translation of the English version.
RETURN TO PRESENT
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Spring and I tried. But the need to pass the Bill before 1 July 1997 didn't permit us to continue the experimentation.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Spring and I became good friends though.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): So when it was her turn to attend the Tsinghua University course, I asked Spring to buy a Tsinghua tie for me.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): When I was there, I was given one in red and one in grey.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Spring bought me a blue one. That's the one I've been wearing the most.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Years later, Spring suffered from breast cancer and died not long thereafter.
Peter takes a deep breath.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - EVENING
Peter is watching George Floyd: Derek Chauvin trial on TV.
PETER (V.O.): I don't know about the defendant's IQ. But in my opinion, his Emotional Quotient (EQ) ie his ability to perceive, control and evaluate must be very low.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I am not "IQ/book-smart" either. I was already 27 when I was admitted to the Law School.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I believe I should be "EQ/street-smart" as I began working part-time at 15.
Peter checks his Quora profile.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Since July 2019, I've responded to 3.2K answer requests.
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've a total of 6.9M content views, and of which 193.2K are within this month.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I hope I've been delivering some possible value to the world, in my humble way.
FADE OUT.
