DREAM SEQUENCE
INT. ROOM - DAY
Vacant. PETER (20s) is looking around with his DAD (40s).
PETER: Pretty nice. I can move in.
Seeing water dripping, Peter takes a look at the ceiling.
Peter (Cont'd): Oh, but the ceiling is leaking.
Peter's Dad notices that.
Peter (Cont'd): And Dad, you'll fix that.
Peter's Dad nods.
Peter (V.O.): Whenever we've any problem with anything, we just leave it to Dad. We take it for granted that Dad won't mind.
End Dream Sequence.
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - NIGHT
Still dark. Peter wakes up from his dream.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, it's just a dream!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Since his passing away in 2011, this is the first time I dreamt of Dad.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Why now?
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Checking their phone messages, Peter and his WIFE chat.
WIFE: Our daughter can't come home in March from Fukuoka as planned. Its college imposes quarantine for students returning from Hong Kong.
PETER: I'll be in Kumamoto in March.
WIFE: Then, you bring her the noodles she likes.
PETER: Can't she buy them in Japan?
WIFE: No, those are Korean noodles, not available in Japan.
Peter nods.
WIFE (Cont'd): She's making arrangements to meet you while you're in Kumamoto. Leave about 3kg of your baggage space for the noodles.
Peter nods.
PETER (Cont'd): It's always good that I can provide for my children.
Pausing.
PETER (Cont'd): We'll see our younger daughter in UK in April.
Pausing.
PETER: If I go to Australia to see our son, do you think it good for me to check in the apartment he has just rented?
WIFE: You had better check in a hotel and not to disturb his routines...
PETER (V.O.): I also mean to see the car that I would buy him, although I know he needs to drive it to hospitals.
Peter checks airline tickets with his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No cheap air tickets yet.
EXT. CAR - NIGHT
Peter's elder SON is in the passenger seat.
PETER: This car can become a collector's item. It's older than you.
Pausing.
PETER: When I'm gone, don't just treat it like trash. It can be valuable.
PETER (V.O.): When I was a senior civil servant, I gave my children very little time. Is it now too late for me to make things better?
END FLASHBACK
Act 3
Lying in bed, Peter is reflecting.
PETER (V.O.): Since his passing away, I remember my Dad from time to time. Missing him is heart-aching. It was good to see him in his 40s again - even though that's in my dream.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When my Dad was around, I never expressed my feelings explicitly to him. I just leave things to him to fix them for me. That was how we subtly engaged.
Checking the table clock time.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although it's very early in the morning, I don't want to sleep again and forget the dreamy encounter. The dreamy moment is real to me!
FADE OUT.
THE END.
