Act 1
INT. LIVING ROOM - 18:00
PETER sits at a piano, an iPad Mini open in front of him, the screen displaying an online tutorial for "Fly Me to the Moon".
PETER (V.O.): Instead of bidding farewell to the full moon tonight, I want to focus on learning this musical piece.
Peter glances at the tutorial, where a cheerful instructor demonstrates the melody and chords of the musical piece.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I want to mimick the instructor's hand movements.
Peter presses down the keys, producing a slightly hesitant but hopeful sound.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I stumble a bit, but each mistake feels like a stepping stone rather than a setback.
As he plays through the verses, the melody begins to take shape.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, I think I'm getting it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I always believe it's never too late to learn and grow.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. MALL, WAKKANAI - 10:45 (21 Sept 2025)
Peter and his WIFE appear. No one is playing the public street piano at a corner.
WIFE: I want to do some last-miniute shoppiing. You can play the piano as you wait.
Peter nods with a big smile, clearly excited about the idea.
PETER (V.O.): That's exactly what I want to do, especially at the northernmost city of Japan.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When my wife and I drove from Sapporo to visit Shiretoko National Park 10 years ago, we pondered what it would be like in Japan's northernmost region.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We've always dreamed of flying to Wakkanai someday, and finally, just a few days ago, we made that dream a reality by flying in from Haneda, Tokyo.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although Wakkanai was already unfamiliar to us, my wife wanted to visit Rishiri Island and Rebun Island as well.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was a pleasant surprise that she was able to secure a night's stay on Rishiri Island.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And thanks to our Japanese-speaking daughter living in Niigata, she also arranged for a rental car there.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And after our tour of Rishiri Island, we took a ferry to Rebun Island.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While waiting at the Rishiri Island ferry terminal, I spotted a public street piano in Japan's northernmost region.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I wouldn't pass up the opportunity and was thrilled to play it.
Peter sits before the street piano.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When we drove here last night, someone was playing it and that's why we know there's a street piano here.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Later, I did play briefly, but without finishing one piece. We'd to rush back to the onsen hotel for the free late-night ramen.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's a windfall that I can play this street piano again.
Peter begins to play.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Every masterpiece begins with a single, imperfect note
Soon, STRANGERS#1-2 approach to see who is playing.
Playing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm turning a personal milestone into a communal moment.
Playing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm also sharing my imperfect self with the world.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - 22:30
Peter uploads an image, depicting his playing a street piano in the northermost city of Japan to a draft on his laptop.
PETER (V.O.): I spend time practising in private believing perfection is the goal. But the northernmost note taught me that courage is the true prize.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): From the northernmost note, a whole journey south - it's a souvenir more precious than any other.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The northernmost note is a promise - a vow that music will travel from the top of the map to the bottom, connecting strangers under one sky.
