  1. FADE IN

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. BEDROOM - 09:15

  4. Morning light filters through the curtains. PETER sits up in bed, scrolling through Facebook with his phone. He stops.

  5. On screen: A post with a starry background and text: The soul isn't inside the body. The body is inside the soul. And the soul is the universe.

  6. PETER (V.O.): Facebook shows me more posts like the ones I've read.

  7. He stares at the text.

  8. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe its algorithm tracks every post I pause to read.

  9. His eyes narrow slightly.

  10. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Its recommendation system assumes that if I interact with a specific topic, I want to see more of it.

  11. He doesn't smile or roll his eyes.

  12. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Showing me similar content encourages me to stay longer on the platform.

  13.  He types the text into the search bar and adds the word: Investigate.

  14. Act 2

  15. INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

  16. We follow Peter to read the response on screen.

  17. PETER (V.O.): From the spiritual and mystical perspective, the separation between "me" and the universe is an illusion created by the ego or the physical senses.

  18. Reading.

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The individual soul and the universal soul are ultimately one. The body is just a temporary vessel, but the consciousness within is the universal consciousness.

  20. Reading.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My soul isn't a tiny spark trapped in a cage of bone and flesh; rather my physical body is a tiny, localized expression of a vast, universal consciousness.

  22. On screen, we read the caption: The Ocean Metaphor.

  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Think of the universe as a vast ocean. My body and personality are like a wave on the surface. The wave has a temporary shape and form, but it's never separate from the ocean.

  24. Pausing.

  25. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When the wave crashes (death), it doesn't disappear; it simply returns to being the ocean.

  26. Pausing.

  27. PETER (V.O.): Perfect metaphor, although I'm not that interested in speculation.

  28. His fingers hover over the response on screen.

  29. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I prefer the scientific and quantum physics perspective.

  30. We follow Peter to read intensely.

  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Orch OR theory: Consciousness originates from quantum vibrations inside protein structures called "microtubules" within brain neurons. When the body dies, the quantum information isn't destroyed but simply dissipates back into the universe.

  32. Nodding.

  33. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Panpsychism: Consciousness is a fundamental and ubiquitous feature of the physical world, much like mass or electrical charge. Even elementary particles possess a very rudimentary form of consciousness.

  34. Nodding.

  35. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Information Conservation: In quantum mechanics, information can't be destroyed. If consciousness is a form of quantum information, then the essence of who I'm can't be annihilated by death; it must go somewhere, presumably back into the universal field of information.

  36. Nodding.

  37. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So my body isn't a container, but an expression.

  38. Pausing.

  39. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My soul isn't trapped inside the body, it's the space in which the body exists.

  40. Pausing.

  41. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Death isn't an end, it's a return to the whole.

  42. A smile spreads across his face.

  43. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):I'm not a separate individual, I'm the universe experiencing itself locally.

  44. It looks he has found a missiing piece of a puzzle.

  45. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm not a drop in the ocean, I'm the entire ocean in a drop.

  46. His eyes are bright with intellectual excitment.

  47. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My body is the interface through which the infinite universe gets to experience the sensation of being a specific person, at a specific time, in a specific place.

  48. EXT. SILVERSTRAND BAY - 17:45

  49. Quiet. Peter's treading water at a corner bouy, looking out the horizon.

  50. PETER (V.O.): I swim to keep my body - the vessel - reasonably functional as long as it lasts. I know I'm in the death zone.

  51. Act 3

  52. INT. BEDROOM -21:30

  53. Peter uploads an image to a draft on his laptop. It shows a serene sunset over the ocean turning its rippling surface into a "drop", reminding one that the ocean is endless.

  54.  PETER (V.O.): My life is the wave. My essence is the water. One rises and falls, the other simply is.

  55. Thinking.

  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The sacred isn't above me, it's the very substance I'm made.

  57. Reflecting.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): To see the ocean in a drop is to realize that the infinite doesn't require distance, only perception.

  59. The END
