  1. FADE IN

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. K11 , TSIMSHATSUI - 12:45

  4. A cathedral of retail. Art installations puntuate here and there. PETER walks beside his WIFE. She walks with purpose, eyes scanning storenames.

  5. WIFE: I've ordered a handbag.

  6. PETER: You've so many already...

  7. WIFE: I can't resist the impulse to buy this one.

  8. PETER (V.O.): It's understandable. She finished her Korean exam days ago.

  9. She enters a sleek boutique. Handbags gleam under warm spotlights.

  10. WIFE: I'm buying the sea-salt blue one.

  11. PETER: It has eye appeal...Oh there's a Royce store nearby. Let me check the Hong Kong prices.

  12. Soon, his wife rejoins him with a bag in a bag.

  13. PETER: I think we'd continue to buy chocolates in Japan.

  14. Act 2

  15. INT. MUSIC STORE - 14:45

  16. A temple of instruments. Peter wanders.

  17. PETER (V.O.): My wife has gone to see the Detective Conan exhibition in Hong Kong...

  18. Pausing.

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But we visited the Gosho Aoya Manga Factory ie the detective's official museum in Tottori, twice.

  20. Peter stops at a row of guitar amplifiers.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I completed my professional assignment yesterday. Perhaps I'd reward myself, with a digital one.

  22. Peter picks up one, and puts it down,

  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Not that portable.

  24.  He moves on. A display of ukeleles. One catches with his eye, with tiny LED lights embedded along the fretboard.

  25. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Playing in the dark should be fun.

  26. He holds it. Plucks a string. A soft, bright note.

  27. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me swim in the Kowloon Park Swimming Pool first...

  28. EXT. KOWLOON PARK - CONTINUOUS

  29. Peter walks with a phone in hand. He types: portable guitar amplifiers. Scrolls. Stops. Types: LED ukuleles. The results fill the screen.

  30. PETER (V.O.): Same models. Better models. Prices 30% lower. Free shipping.

  31. Pausing.

  32. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Strategy. That's what it is. I wait. I compare.

  33. Pausing.

  34. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I could have bought both 10 minutes ago. But now I know.

  35. Pausing.

  36. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's not about the money. It's about the pause.

  37. Pausing.

  38. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Strategy isn't the decision. Strategy is the pause before the decision.

  39. Later, Peter exits from the swimming pool. He walks through the park.

  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1972, I'd come here with my girlfriend on some Saturday nights.

  41. Two birds land nearby, pecking at the ground.

  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I ended our relationship in the summer of 1974. I shouldn't have allowed it since Autumn of 1971.

  43. He watches the birds.

  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I knew. Even then. But I didn't know how. I knew nothing about strategy. I was 17-20.

  45. Pausing.

  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Strategy is knowing when to wait. And when to walk away.

  47. One bird flies off.

  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Time flies.

  49. The other one flies off too.

  50. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I paused too late then.

  51. Act 3

  52. INT. BEDROOM -22:00

  53. Peter uploads an image to a draft on his laptop. It captures a vibrant scene at the Avenue of Comic Stars in Kowloon Park, featuring a cutout of the iconic comic character Old Master Q, pointing to a welcoming sign.

  54.  PETER (V.O.): Wisdom isn't just making good choices-it's about the timing. Knowing when to act and when to refrain is a skill learned through experience, often through regret.

  55. Thinking.

  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Fulfillment doesn't come from acquiring things. The pause between wanting and having is where real freedom lives.

  57. Reflecting.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The richest days aren't measured by what I acquire, but by what I understand. The pause is a gift I give to my future self.

  59. The END
