Act 1
INT. LIVING ROOM - 07:30
Soft grey light. Kaji, the family pet, makes low whines. Peter quickly appears.
PETER: I know you're eager to have breakfast with me.
Kaji lets out a single, pointed bark. We hear the voice of Peter's wife from the bedroom.
WIFE: The dog.
As Peter and Kaji take their seats, the MAID puts bread on the table.
MAID: Morning Sir.
PETER: Morning.
Peter turns to Kaji, with a slice of the bread in his hand.
PETER (Cont'd): If you provoke the pack leader, she may come out to grab you inside and you won't be able to get what you want. Understand?
Act 2
INT. CHA CHAAN TENG, TSIMSHATSUI - 14:40
The air is thick with the rich, greasy aroma of Hong Kong comfort food. Peter sits at a small table. His hair is damp.
PETER (V.O.): I've just done my swim at Kowloon Park, and now is the time to reward myself with a delightful afternoon tea set!
Before him sits a bowl of roast goose noodles in soup, and a cup of hot chocolate. As he lifts his chopsticks, he notices several phone notifications. He puts the chopsticks down to read them.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): ... another report made...it's not known if the agency would investisgate...
Having studied the first string, Peter types his opinion on his phone screen. He then reads the second string.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): ...they've replied...no substance though...
Peter types his response in considerable details. Then, he sees a follow-up question from string one.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me elaborate.
Peter types further. Finishing that, he sees a follow-up question from string two.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): ...convenient to talk?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Stop talking to the ones who should be answerable and responsible. Communicate to the ones who are accountable.
FLASHBACK
EXT. PETER'S CHILDHOOD HOME - DAY (1969)
Peter watches a team of China Light ELECTRICIANS installing a distribution transformer on a new utility pole near his home.
PETER (V.O.): I complained to the general manager of the electric company about weak electricity in my home, incidentally leading to a civic upgrade.
EXT. PETER'S CHILDHOOD HOME - DAY (1974)
Peter watches several HK Telephone WIREMEN installing new landline poles leading to his home.
PETER (V.O.): Earlier, I received a response from the company stating that my application for telephone service will be accepted if I can obtain consent from landowners to erect the poles.
EXT. PETER'S NT HOME - DAY (1995)
Front garden. Peter observes a police DETECTIVE collecting earth samples.
PETER (V.O.): I reported criminal damage to a tree in my garden. There was no investigation until I complained to the District Commander.
RETURN TO PRESENT
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A system works when message reaches the desk where the buck stops.
After typing his reply, Peter consumes his set quickly.
EXT. RIVERSIDE GARDEN - 16:00
Peter is heading towards it.
PETER (V.O.): Let me talk to the other side when I'm there.
Before arriving, Peter sees an incoming email on his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is what I expected...I need to acknowledge receipt today?
Peter reads the mail.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While the materials are correct, the sender has addressed me incorrectly. I'm not Ike, I'm Peter.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My name is the first address the sender must get right. All other accountability flows from that.
Peter makes a call.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As the correspondence will be documented, I'd better call the sender to rectify the mistake.
Later at the park, we see Peter engaging in another lengthly phone conversation.
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - 21:30
Peter uploads an image highlighting a bowl of noodles topped with roasted goose and greens, and a cup of chocolate to a draft on his laptop.
PETER (V.O.): A lifetime teaches me this: the right address isn't a place; it's a point of leverage.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I spend my life seeking the right address - for my love, my anger, my hopes. The secret is to send them where they'll be heard, not just received.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The right address transcends bureaucracy; it's a tool for effective agency -targeting energy with precision to where it can actually resonate and effect change.
The END
