FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - DAY
Waking up, PETER looks lost.
PETER (V.O.): I was dreaming. I thought I was travelling somewhere - probably in Japan. As it was in a lockdown, I was disturbed.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've told myself to pinch myself if I feel unhappy in my dream. My brain doesn't seem to have got the message.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As I can't travel safely during the pandemic, a substitute is to do my thought travel.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Quorans here and there have asked my thoughts as to how their tourism industries can be revived. The critical solution is whether their environment is coronavirus-free, or the risk of infection is very low.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's also the travel-related hygiene issues. But the real problem is how to minimize the risk of getting infected from asymptomatic spreaders.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Unless there's a safe, efficacious and effective coronavirus vaccine, travellers' safety confidence will remain low.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): But that shouldn't prevent me from engaging people from all over the world via the Quora social media platform. In the past year, I've done knowledge transfer to about half a million people.
Act 2
INT. SITTING ROOM - DAY
Peter checks new notifications on his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A Quoran asks my opinion whether the re-scheduled Tokyo Olympics will be on.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've tracked the world's coronavirus vaccinne developments. As there're now three candidate vaccines in Phase III clinical trials, I believe there should be a regulatory approved vaccine by Spring 2021. So the summer games should be Okay.
Having typed on his phone, Peter checks another notification.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What do I think of the news that the first evidence of the coronavirus was detected in Spain in March 2019?
Peter looks perplexed.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Was the news reported? It may not be widely reported if the story doesn't fit in with the media's narrative.
Peter surfs the web.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was a study finding by a team of the University of Barcelona, released in Spanish in late June 2020.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I longed to visit Spain but haven't visited it so far.
FLASHBACK
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM, GENEVA - DAY (1993)
Peter (39) sits with the UK delegation. A Spanish LADY (30s) is making an intervention.
PETER (V.O.): It's Spain's turn to speak on behalf of the European Communities. She's my friend.
EXT. COACH STAND, BOSTON - DAY (1993)
In a GROUP, Peter chats with the Spanish lady.
LADY: Peter, for the past couple of months, whether in Europe or US, you've been looking very down.
PETER: Yes, my bereavement is far from over.
The lady nods.
INT. OFFICE - DAY (1993)
Peter chats with a female COLLEAGUE (30s). He shows her some photos, depicting the Spanish lady and him.
PETER (V.O.): Do you think if I should develop a relationship with her?
COLLEAGUE: She lives and works in Spain right?
PETER: Yes.
Pausing.
COLLEAGUE: It's really up to you.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There was the possibility that Spain could be a second home to me.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How's she now?
Peter looks out of the window.
Act 3
INT. SITTING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Peter checks other new phone notifications.
PETER (V.O.): How do I see the coronavirus pandemic in Indonesia?
Peter types on his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Will the UK prime minister be held accountable for the pandemic consequences in a possible enquiry?
Peter types again.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): How bad is CONVID-19 in Brazil? Will Russia surpass US with coronavirus cases?
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Sounds strange that US doesn't want dominance and wish to be surpassed.
Peter inserts an image of Russian dancers to his answer before checking another answer request.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The focus of this one isn't about the pandemic: What's the strategic importance of Singapore to US?
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As a US ally, Singapore is still of use to US's military operations in the Far East. Otherwise, US only bother about Hong Kong, China matters, and won't care about Singapore.
Peter types his answer on the phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So I've done a lot of quick thought travel.
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - NIGHT
Peter goes to bed.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): See if I'd have a travel dream again; and whether I'll pinch myself.
THE END
FADE OUT.
