Act 1
EXT. GOLD COAST - DAY
In his SMART car, PETER parks at the car park.
PETER (V.O.): So many vacant spaces. Like the old days when I first owned my Ford Capri in 1976.
Beach. Two WOMEN are taking swimsuit-photos for each other. Placing his bag on the beach, Peter begins to swim.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I'm the only swimmer again.
Swimming.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Swimming here is so exclusive. It's much more safer than public swimming pools.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was young, I swam either in streams or in bays near Castle Peak. There weren't public swimming pools in NT.
Having enjoyed his swimming, Peter takes a selfie at the beach and checks it.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm a senior citizen now.
Act 2
INT. MALL - LATER
Cosy restaurant. Peter enjoys his steak fried rice and coffee.
PETER (V.O.): When I was young, I didn't have anything to eat after swimming.
FLASHBACK
EXT. BUS TERMINAL, CASTLE PEAK BAY - DAY (1964)
As a wet-haired PETER (10) and OTHERS queue up, a hawker selling braised food solicits them.
PETER (V.O.): I'm very hungry. But I've to pay for the bus fare.
SOMEONE near Peter pays 20 cents for his order. The hawker begins to cut small pieces of the braised food.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My mouth waters. What I can have is to swallow my saliva.
RETURN TO PRESENT
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The scene is still vivid in my mind, after 56 years.
INT. PETER'S NT HOME - LATER
Master bedroom, 1/F. Peter works very hard to re-fix the peeled-off wallpapers.
PETER (V.O.): It's quite tiring. Perhaps, enough for today. Let me clear other mess.
Music room. 1/F. Peter cleans an upright piano. A Yamaha.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It hasn't been played for many many years. I bought it in the late 1970s.
FLASHBACK
INT. MUSIC ROOM - DAY (1980)
A STUDENT (17) is playing the piano. Peter's WIFE, SHARON (25) is teaching.
RETURN TO PRESENT
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My late wife used to teach piano part-time.
Lifting the fallboard, Peter hits the keyboard.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Sharon also taught me a little.
Peter finds two sticky keys.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm not surprised.
EXT. ROADS NEAR SHEUNG SHUI - NIGHT
Driving. Peter listens to the radio.
PETER (V.O.): The DJ was a folk singer.
FLASHBACK
INT. CAPTAIN'S TABLE - NIGHT (1977)
Peter (23), Sharon (22) and a FRIEND (23) are watching a SINGER performing folk songs.
RETURN TO PRESENT
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The singer was still little known outside the circle then.
Then we hear the radio, playing a song: One day when we were young...you told me, you loved me; and held me close to your heart; we laughed then, we cried then; then came the time to part...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Sharon died young.
Act 3
EXT. ROADS NEAR CUHK - CONTINUOUS
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While we were dating, Sharon had choices to make.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): She said to me that she made the one she wouldn't regret.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We saw eye to eye and never had any argument.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We kept our excellent marriage. No one would know what we experienced.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me write something about it in my blog screenplay tonight.
We hear the song's ending: ...Remember you loved me, when we were young one day.
FADE OUT.
