A Business Case

In summer 2016, I was invited for the first time as one of the judges in a prestigious international business case competition. The only business experience I got then was the setback in designing a disruptive but innovative business model for trading of patents on internet of things. Despite my high concept, the environment and the needed structure of a trading vehicle rendered my strategy a non-starter.
On June 7, 2017, I acted as an experienced judge in the business case competition again. I was impressed with participants' ideas in characterizing what a business stands for, in analyzing the current environment and in itemizing the assets and partnerships that would need to improve the product and to expand the market. One common assumption was that finding or making the money was not a problem.
I started up my professional service consultancy three months ago. Instead of using the common professional business model to compete in the red ocean, I decided to attempt to break through and explore the blue ocean. My strategy was two lows & two highs - low on costs and risks, high on intellectual input and performance outcome.
The dynamic environment impacts on the supply and demand chain as well as a business' positioning in the value chain. My value proposition is to provide a unique world-class service based on intellectual property expertise and hard-earned personal branding. My business structure is lean and my operations are web-based coupled with some human emotional connections!
