When I became the Head of Intellectual Property in Hong Kong, China in 2011, I had the vision to change Hong Kong and the world by creating more public value. My mission was to prove the concept of international trading of intellectual property via Hong Kong. Through effective persuasion, I won some spiritual support in public and private sectors.
To create a new world market in a new business context, I needed open collaboration. My key strategic partners included my Mainland Chinese counterparts. Months after my retirement in 2014, a government-backed pilot project on intellectual property trading platform was founded in Hengqin, Zhuhai, a Special Economic Zone in South China.
As a Conference Speaker, I visited the Hengqin premises from August 6-8, 2018 and was amazed to see the grand offices were meant to be temporary. I immediately felt the impact of government-backed executions - neither a standard nor norm in market-driven Hong Kong. Anyhow, I was honoured as a strategist to the trading platform.
At the Gala Dinner last night, I excited and delighted myself by performing live my tri-lingual songs - "Do Good For You & Me", "Don't Make Me Blue", and "Untold Story". A friend, Dr Wang Ye, captured the moment but reserved his paternity right (ie I need to attribute him to the featured photo). But I have no paternity right in my shared vision at all!
